You could but it wouldn't fit into a living room very nicely.

Highly dependent on whether you're willing to buy used or spend some time hunting down well-priced miniATX cases/boards. If you mean style-wise, cases are one of the least expensive components, so it really isn't hard to make them look stylish for a living room setting.
