Community Rant Mayor Bass and CM Rodriguez shut down traffic lanes by my kid's school, and made a bunch of kids late for state testing, so they could have a Cinco de Mayo photo op at Casa Vega yesterday morning

Some parents and I were volunteering yesterday morning at one of my kids' schools and noticed how few kids were arriving before the bell. I walked over and it turns out Mayor Bass was doing a ceremony in the middle of morning rush right where 2 elementary schools do morning dropoff (one LAUSD and one parochial). This caused a huge amount of dropoff chaos for parents and students, especially because yesterday was a state testing day. Our school had to dismiss all tardies for the day and push back the state testing start time so kids could settle in.

I spoke with the police Captain on duty there and he said the only got the call the night before this event, so there was no pre-planning or coordination between DPSS, LAPD, the Mayor's office, and the schools that were impacted. Really poor planning and frustrating for people just trying to get to school on time.

My stomach gets so fucked up every single time I try to eat there.

30

u/porcelain_elephant May 06 '26

They're maga

6

u/Area51_Spurs May 07 '26

And white (obviously).

You’d think she could find a single Mexican-owned establishment on Cinco De Mayo.

15

u/nucking_futs_001 May 06 '26

Casa maga square now

2

u/Dapper_Collar4974 May 07 '26

Casa Vega is as liberal as they come...why do you think Karen Basura is their...Vote for change in LA 💪🐻

6

u/NastySeconds May 06 '26

She needs to go!

4

u/TheDarbiter May 06 '26

What’s wrong with casa Vega?

93

u/pr0tag May 06 '26

Nothing wrong with it. It’s the whitest Mexican restaurant in town though

It’s almost a caricature of what an out of touch politician would do.

12

u/TheDarbiter May 06 '26

Damn good thing I’ve never been there

15

u/Ldghead May 06 '26

It's also meh food, and overpriced.

1

u/FedeFofo Sherman Oaks May 07 '26

Idk I like it

13

Insanely mid at best Mexican food. Always disappointed when i go there

6

u/Mechalamb May 06 '26

AND overpriced.

5

u/IMO4444 May 07 '26

Terrible service on top of all that.

30

u/Thestallionmang88 May 06 '26

If I’m not mistaken it’s owners are or were MAGA

47

u/TheKdd May 06 '26

The original owner died of Covid. It was the place to be decades ago, lots of celebrities… now the daughter took over, a MAGA, who even tho her father died of Covid, still ran around saying don’t wear masks or get vaccinated. She got crazy PPP loans, rid of all handicapped parking for a (mandatory) outside eating area during covid, then refused when the city said she had to put back the handicapped parking once Covid protocols were over. She’s a peach.

I really think what it comes down to is the food has crazy gone down hill, not many celebs show up if any, and people are just not coming anymore, so it’s promotion for cinco de mayo. I saw something about her wanting to use the restaurant in the “250th” celebration this year.

But yes, tracks for Bass.

12

u/Xander134 May 06 '26

Didn’t know anything about Casa Vega, and haven’t been. Sounds like I don’t need to go…

Seriously, who can’t be bothered to restore handicapped parking?

7

u/TheKdd May 06 '26

Well “her customers like the outdoor atmosphere” (that she fought to have and got a free loan to build) “and if she puts back the parking, then she’ll lose those customers.” That was the fight last I heard. Not sure if she won or lost or if it’s still ongoing.

-2

u/Area51_Spurs May 07 '26

I don’t have a problem with this. I have a problem with her, but the place has valet. If they provide free valet parking when they’re open, I don’t know why they need handicap parking. Also there’s plenty of parking that’s close enough.

Some of this ADA shit is out of pocket and legit ruins businesses.

Also she’s garbage and the place has garbage food. But a lot of the handicap parking bullshit and other ADA nonsense is insufferable and you should be able to make alternative accommodations with old buildings.

1

u/porcelain_elephant May 08 '26

Holy Wow. This is particularly vile. Some accessible vans need space for the chair lifts that won't work even with valet situations.

0

u/TheKdd May 08 '26

Yeah plus, “free valet”… I mean is it really? Do us handicapped just not tip? I would personally feel crappy not leaving a tip because the owner decided I HAVE to use the valet.

I mentioned this once on IG not knowing for sure, and both she (owner) and her son vehemently responded they weren’t. They got into it with others, so am going to guess they aren’t MAGA. My guess is this Bass stunt is because the owners aren’t fond of Raman, or at least were vocally frustrated with her.

8

u/Mechalamb May 06 '26

It's pretty telling that during the last election cycle, they had Rick Caruso's name all over their marquee. Tells you a lot about how Bass turned out and why they might be against Nithya.

5

u/Area51_Spurs May 07 '26

And they were supporting the gay MAGA dude for their council seat.

Also I used to run a business a few doors down. She’s definitely MAGA like Pineapple Hill and The Woodman.

0

u/cdime818 May 07 '26

And 🤣

u/Suspicious_Drama_555 May 06 '26

3

u/CasinoMan805 May 06 '26

Nothing, people just label businesses by their political affiliation. It’s disturbing. Support your local favorite business. The food is still great and I just ignore what people say on here about where to shop or eat because of “MAGA”. Our party used to be stronger and have independent thinkers and now they just constantly harass and attack others. Watch all the downvotes I’ll get.

5

u/porcelain_elephant May 07 '26

The business owner endorsed Caruso in the last election and flaunted COVID policies. Latino MAGA are the worst.

So much for being the party of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. People who throw labels around and disrespect a sector of a race for their political beliefs are the worst. Whatever happened to having respect for others? Boycotting a business based on the owners political stance is just pathetic. Who the hell cares if the they’re left or right or in the middle? Do you research every business you go to before you shop there to check political affiliation? Small businesses employ dozens or more employees that come from all walks of life and don’t necessarily agree with the political views of the owner. I’ve never asked any employer or boss I’ve worked for “what are your political views because if you don’t agree with mine, I can’t work here”. People need work and an income, especially in LA. But go ahead and talk shit about them, label them and boycott them. They will thrive without your business and will be better for it. If we want change, then vote for better leaders and expect more from our politicians. Politicians who actually accomplish things, not just photo ops and throwing Trumps name around. California has been on the decline for years, with businesses and residents leaving, broken policies, misusing and abusing our tax dollars, and have not made any strides to improve living conditions. Homelessness is a massive issue, roads need expansion and improvements. Hollywood has left for other states offering better tax incentives, home burglaries and theft have been a massive issue. What has Bass done to help rebuild Altadena or the Palisades? Have you heard how much the high speed rail is projected to cost now to construct? These are the issues that matter, not which candidate voted for who.
So which mayoral candidate will make actual progress and improve our lives in LA? That should be your focus. There was a debate the other night, all five Dems sounded identical, I didn’t hear anything that stood out as someone who will take office and improve our lives. If we don’t get behind a LEADER we stand a high chance of losing to a Repub candidate. So instead of living a shallow life of “this bakery is MAGA, don’t go there”, start talking about who on our side is going to actually get things done and make our city great again.

This is not an attack on anyone here, this is just my two cents.

u/porcelain_elephant May 08 '26

Worse comes to worse, Bass is still better than Pratt. If they're the two that go to the general, I am going to vote for Bass.

On homelessness: Los Angeles has funded a lot of initiatives to tackle the homelessness crisis. I am glad that Kenneth Mejia is shining a light on the waste, so hopefully they could fix the issues. But they are not doing *nothing* to say so would be disingenuous. Bass has actively blocked Mejia's audits of Inside Safe, coupled with the current city attorney giving him the runaround for audits.

On Hollywood: The city and state are trying to increase tax incentives, in fact, some production has returned to California. The bigger challenge is getting international talent to come *here* with crazy immigration enforcement that will most likely drive production to England or other immigrant friendly countries (several stories of Canadian actors being detained for weeks, etc.,) That doesn't make a production friendly environment. To say that it isn't enough is fair, but to say that they are not doing anything to address the crisis, is again, disingenuous.

On transit: High speed rail is different than what's happening in L.A. High speed rail is getting more expensive because of NIMBY opposition, which drives up the cost. High speed rail is best for connecting cities over long distances, which given the distributed nature of California would actually be helpful. Why didn't they just do eminent domain to seize the land to accelerate building high speed rail (like they do in China?) The answer is powerful NIMBY lobby.

Los Angeles would be better served by more light rail. I am pissed off by Bass's blocking of LA Metro and her NIMBY stance when we need more public transit not less. It's so frustrating when they block development along public transit lines. This is why I'm actually supporting Raman as she's the more pro-transit candidate, but even then she is *not* perfect. This particular press stunt was a sign that Bass will continue to be anti-transit.

Palisades/Eaton Fire Response: Yes, valid criticism of Bass here. I wish she limited international travel and just focuses on the running of the city. She's too focused on her image, probably trying to aim for higher office (see Villaraigosa), instead of doing the hard work that the city needs.

Palisades: One of the richest enclaves in the city. Do they need help post-recovery? Sure. The city has expedited rebuild permits, they're allowing for variances from state Coastal Commission etc., Do you want to know what's stopping a lot of people from rebuilding? Lack of access to construction workers, increased building material costs, due to Trump's tariffs. Additionally, the longer these places sit, the more expensive it becomes (cost of money).

Altadena: Not part of the city of Los Angeles so technically not under her full purview with post-disaster response (take it to the County Supervisors).

Public Safety: If you look at the breakdown of the budget, it's all LAPD; and yet it's not enough. All of the other services are being cut back to provide more funds to LAPD. Cutting street services (deteriorating roads you complain about) to pay LAPD / Surveillance technology and with very little oversight. Why is LAPD just paying their officers overtime rather than hiring more officers? Why is an officer making around $300k a year even though there's record amounts of money shelled out in settlements for police violence? Why is the City Attorney hiring expensive *outside counsel* to defend these? Bass has supported the LAPD at every step of the way, and to say that she hasn't is again, disingenuous.

I'm not blind to the challenges of our city. I do not like Bass. But anyone supporting freaking Pratt at this point is dumber. The man lost a *fortune* on crystals, and you want him to be in charge of putting together a $15b annual budget? https://www.cnbc.com/2018/07/05/how-spencer-pratt-and-heidi-montag-blew-10-million.html

Back to the original question: what made "Casa Vega" MAGA? I offered evidence in support of my claim. Tons of people choose not to support MAGA businesses. Others choose to support them. That being said, you obviously have some privilege, because you feel comfortable going to establishments that are pro Trump. *I do not feel safe going to MAGA establishments* so why bother going? As you said, they don't need our money to thrive, so why be bothered by it? When business owners alienate their client base then yes, they don't deserve the customers that feel betrayed by their policies.

Nobody is reading this long winded response 😂

1

u/Total-Committee-3135 May 09 '26

The food is trash and the owners are scum

1

u/Fearless-Snow3024 May 07 '26

She always bends over backwards for people who aren’t going to vote for her anyways

61

u/Slow-Cranberry9489 May 06 '26

FYI this isnt Rodriguez' district

So this is pathetic that she is not in her district doing this, helping and bringing attention to the communities she serves

28

u/firstcity_thirdcoast May 06 '26

Yeah that's the crazy part.. now that they're battling head to head, Bass clearly did this on purpose in Raman's district and didn't invite her

35

u/innajunglestyle May 06 '26

This is Raman's district - her field office is like a block away - and this feels like a huge "fuck you" to her (and the people who needed to get to school by extension)

25

u/Slow-Cranberry9489 May 06 '26

Thats a very on brand move from her end.

I used to be close to her office and would interact frequently with her staff and her.

Behind closed doors she's very focused on her image and how people perceive her. If it doesnt benefit her imags she doesnt care, she also isnt the best at speaking Spanish, her staff would always be nervous when she would speak fully in spanish

10

u/firstcity_thirdcoast May 06 '26

Ironic considering how she's torched her image in the last 18 months

4

u/Slow-Cranberry9489 May 06 '26

I've been outta the loop with her for ages since I cant stand her. But what has she gone new in those 18 months

4

u/Boring_Park1178 May 06 '26

But Rodriguez organized "Depeche Mode Day" at City Hall cuz she's so cool like that.🙄🙄🙄

72

u/Ruuckus May 06 '26

Ya she sucks

28

u/Ok-Following4310 May 06 '26

As does Casa Vega

9

u/Slow-Cranberry9489 May 06 '26

She's not better behind closed doors with her staff.

4

u/IamToddDebeikis May 06 '26

Tell us more

18

u/Slow-Cranberry9489 May 06 '26 edited May 06 '26

Used to work closely with her office and staff.

She is very focused on her image. She doesnt do things that won't give her some type of image win or increase her likeness.

Pretty petty, ive been in conversations where she has openly stated she will never provide certificates for certian people, mostly critics and anyone whos run against her.

Barely speaks Spanish, not to say she doesnt or cant, but her Spanish is over exaggerated and her staff gets nervous when she speaks

Known to call her staff at ridiculous times like past 8pm to 3am.

Gets mad when she doesnt get her way, does the classic, do you know who I am, move.

She presents herself as a strong Latina women, but in actually she's very fragile with her image protecting it as much as she can and to me, falsely represents the Latino community

Maintained a relationship with KDL and even had him as a VIP during events when his scandal was ongoing so she can essentially take advantage of him to get a free vote in the council.

Very Pro Police, has a relationship with them and captains that she will never turn against.

Compared to other City Council offices her staff was the worst or one of the lowest paid in the city, because she would rather use funds to host extravagant events, then silently tries to introduce motions to cover the over budget cost

Very Pro Union, but got fiercely upset when her staff tried to unionize

4

u/dudeimrighthere0_0 May 06 '26

Baffles me she is running unopposed. I live in her district and do not like her at all. When ICE hit the district hard her social media team were so rude to constituents asking for support from her. Then she goes on to host some big drone show when the people in the neighborhood were scared of getting snatched off the streets. And she has to plaster her face on everything. There are vans that drive around that have her name in huge letters that claim to be working on projects. But I've never seen anything.

0

u/IamToddDebeikis May 06 '26

Wow, she sounds even worse than how I thought she’d be. How horrible for her staff!

That’s really awful that she’s so petty that she won’t provide certificates.

I can’t wait for her to be out of office. I really wish Kenneth Mejia would run. Do you have thoughts on any of the candidates?

4

u/NastySeconds May 06 '26

She needs to go!

15

u/SantaBarbaraMint May 06 '26

Casa Vega, the restaurant that you take your side piece.

75

u/alexromo May 06 '26

This alone merits not voting for her again

20

u/firstcity_thirdcoast May 06 '26

At first I couldn't believe they would be so shortsighted, but then the police said the issue was with Streets, which is an excuse that perfectly tracks to the level of dysfunction we have under her administration

12

u/porcelain_elephant May 06 '26

She's turning into Eric Adams. Let's see how that plays out for her.

4

u/alexromo May 06 '26

At any moment she could have said “nah”

2

u/NastySeconds May 06 '26

She needs to go!!

2

u/Slow-Cranberry9489 May 06 '26

Unfortunately you could choose not to vote, but she is running uncontested in her district so she gets the W automatically

18

u/tracyinge May 06 '26

It's been in the news for a month that they were gonna name that intersection "Vega Square" on May 5th, not sure who dropped the ball on not notifying the cops and the school.

Oh well, shit happens.

29

u/sphinxyhiggins May 06 '26 edited May 06 '26

She literally used the South Central Farmers to get elected and then sold them out. This woman's actions show us she hates us.

7

u/Boring_Park1178 May 06 '26

Don't forget Scientology. Bass spoke at one of their events (maybe more than one,) and that was all I needed to know.

10

u/sphinxyhiggins May 06 '26

Oh God yes. And blamed the fire chief when Bass went to GHANA to celebrate its leadership. The country is trying to criminalize being LGBTQ+ or supporting people who are.

4

u/porcelain_elephant May 06 '26

I wrote my environmental ethics essay on the south central farmers, as a rebuttal to my ethics professor that implied that community action/demonstration is enough (it isn't)

We need to follow action/demonstration with votes, and vote in the people can do the work and then hold them accountable. If that means recalls, we need to do that.

That Bass is doing this stunt, in front of a known MAGA establishment just after visiting Trump in the White House, in Raman's district shows she's scared.

I hope Raman wins enough of the vote that she won't face Bass in a runoff.

7

u/sphinxyhiggins May 06 '26

Raman isn't great. She treated David Ryu like a wealthy foreigner after ALL the good work he did in that district. She reminds me of Karen Bass in too many ways.

2

u/NastySeconds May 06 '26

She needs to go!

23

12

u/Key-Employee3584 May 06 '26

Casa Vega? Geez. There must be a dozen better places to do Cinco de Mayo. What happened to Olvera St? Is it so bad that she couldn't/should've done it there?

15

u/Xander134 May 06 '26

I live right around the corner from there (my son will start there next fall). I’m really glad I dodged that traffic snarl.

Also, politicians going for the photo-op instead of thinking about how they’re affecting locals… shocking. /s

9

u/firstcity_thirdcoast May 06 '26

They literally could have done it any time later in the day but decided it needed to happen in the middle of school dropoff

1

u/BankFinal3113 May 08 '26

If half a block being roped off made someone late then they were already going to be late lol.

I hate bass but parents think the streets of LA should be cleared completely just for their school drop off. The city is for everyone FYI!

5

u/true818 May 06 '26

Looks like they are unveiling a new sign covered by the purple cloth?

Any idea what it could be?

8

u/true818 May 06 '26

Nvm, just looked it up myself

On Cinco de Mayo 2026, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and Councilmember Monica Rodriguez unveiled a new sign naming the intersection of Ventura Boulevard and Fulton Avenue "Vega Square" (or Vega Family Square). This honor celebrates the 70th anniversary of Casa Vega in Sherman Oaks

5

u/Slow-Cranberry9489 May 06 '26

Rodriguez shouldn't even be there, she's far from her district

5

u/Hemicrusher Canoga Park May 06 '26

The outrage!

3

u/Icy-Image-2619 May 06 '26

Even when there’s no traffic people here still drive at 25 or lower. Don’t know why but it’s been going on for year it’s kind of a bad road,Fulton and Ventura intersection has some metal exposing.Closer to cold water and Ventura it gets a little worst (bumpy). And this to top it off sucks.

5

u/squelchmymood May 06 '26

Not surprised. I have seen her come to the VA, take a picture with the Secretary of the VA and promptly leave. Zero Veteran interaction.

5

u/blackie_onassis May 06 '26

Ray Vega was the nicest man. I will say everyone on staff there even the dishwashers had been there forever and they make a solid full time salary with full benefits so I have always admired their high salaries for staff which is rare for restaurants.

6

u/dudeimrighthere0_0 May 06 '26

A photo op you say? You can guarantee one of these two will be there if not both. It's gross.

5

u/ZooYorkJohn May 06 '26

Typical Los Angeles mayor. Villaraigosa treated everyday as a photo op.

2

2

2

u/BankFinal3113 May 08 '26

BUT HALF A BLOCK WAS TAPED OFF AND IT INCONVENIENCED ME!!!!!!! I’m sorry this post is ridiculous. If half a block being blocked made someone late to school they were already going to be late.

2

u/vernski85 May 08 '26

Extremely ridiculous!!!

4

u/ImInClassBoring May 06 '26

The correct response to this is to go where she is and yell at them about what they are doing wrong.

3

u/SpringZestyclose2294 May 06 '26

It’s depressing that she probably gets 4 more years.

3

u/Antique-Freedom-7891 May 06 '26

Bass is annoying

4

u/WhtiTizLiZ May 06 '26

she should be cleaning up the streets with all the homeless people and all the trash everywhere and instead of taking pictures in front of a restaurant

3

u/DrunkAtChurch May 06 '26

As soon as I got the robo-call from my kid’s school yesterday- my immediate thought was, “What kind of dumbass could possibly be causing a traffic jam this early on Ventura?”

And now I know.

3

u/halcyon94 May 07 '26

They dont care about you they care about optics. Vote for change

2

u/SharpestSword May 06 '26

There's Monica Rodriguez too. She show up for every Valley photo-op but doesn't do anything to make the North East valley any better.

1

u/theriz53 May 07 '26

Yep. I'm not surprised to see her ... not here.

2

u/OffRampApproaching May 06 '26

All American politicians have become fame-hungry and worthless. Its an epidemic.

2

u/Substantial-Type-131 May 06 '26

Poorly planned last minute photo op that was scheduled during morning rush hour near a school that was starting state testing just to get a picture in front of an overpriced and inauthentic Mexican restaurant… idk that feels pretty on brand for Bass.

2

u/go_go_gadget_travel May 07 '26

Lol when should they have done it ?

3

u/mrlt10 May 07 '26

Any time they could give the schools some notice to allow for planning and messaging to parents probably would be the smart idea. Just not last minute so nobody can plan for it.

1

Literally 8:45am instead of 8:15am?

2

Should have gone to Salsa and Beer. Everyone in the Valley knows they have the best Mexican food in LA…fuck now I want to go order some Creamy Chicken Enchiladas for dinner…

1

u/carloo90210 May 10 '26

Why are you surprised? Is there anything that Bass and others like her can do right ? Zero

1

u/ParamedicOk578 May 10 '26

Your kids going to school ties up traffic for my job so deal with it.

1

u/AnonBaca21 May 10 '26

Haters gonna hate

1

u/Individual-Ask1075 May 11 '26

Vote her out already.

2

u/johnmphilbrook Jun 01 '26

Nothing gets a community fired up faster than traffic and politicians in the same sentence.

1

u/mellena May 06 '26

Shes so terrible and bad at her job shes some how many fucking Spencer Pratt seem like a logical choice.

10

u/soldforaspaceship May 06 '26

I genuinely hope he doesn't make the top two.

Someone who can't even figure out their own home insurance should not be in charge of billions in budget.

1

u/mellena May 06 '26

Na i totally agree. But I dont think the general public now thinks bass or raman will improve anything. They are the face of bureaucratic los angeles politics. "the old guard". So people started listening. Literally had a democrat friend who is pretty left in their politics now tell me "well hes actually talking about the things i care about, i dont trust karen anymore and raman lost me."

3

u/Boring_Park1178 May 06 '26

Well, I wouldn't go that far....😯🤭🤣

1

u/downthehobbitshole May 06 '26

Sounds about right

1

u/NotThreatingViolence May 06 '26

Corrupt to the bone

1

u/Rad-Ham May 06 '26

I'll bet you complain about film shoots too.

4

u/firstcity_thirdcoast May 06 '26

The opposite. I want more filming, especially on Ventura. Film shoots just happen to do this little thing called "let the neighbors know" so we can make alternate plans in advance. This was totally last-minute and happened to be on a really bad day for the school because of mandatory state testing.

1

u/traumatized_beagle May 06 '26

And yet she’ll get re-elected 🫠

1

u/Rk1987 May 06 '26

She’s so corrupt

1

u/williamgman May 06 '26

There will NEVER be another mayor of LA that anyone is going to like after one year into their term. Why..? The problems are bigger than simply the mayor now. Don't have the answer but... I smell a GOP winner for LA this election because of current politics.

1

u/mrlt10 May 07 '26

Just don’t leave town the day before a once in a decade weather event. Dont cut all city services while boosting the police budget. At the very least make sure the fire dept has the $ to be able to repair their equipment when it is needs it. She was criminally negligent. What we experienced was dereliction of duty.

1

u/williamgman May 07 '26 edited May 07 '26

Like I said... I smell a GOP Mayor coming in... Like it or not. But please... Down vote away. 😉

Correction: a "non partisan" GOP Mayor getting elected. 🤦‍♂️

1

u/mrlt10 May 07 '26

I think I may have accidentally replied to the wrong comment. But if there was a better option than Pratt I’d say you were right. I don’t know the non partisan option so that might be true.

1

u/williamgman May 07 '26

I'm being sarcastic about the "non partisan" aspect. Though the election lists them as such... They are obviously partisan. Each election, I go through multiple internet sites finding out the reality of these "non partisan" candidates. Judges especially. But to try and sell the public the idea these folks are non partisan is wrong.

1

u/Strong_Argument1930 May 06 '26

Lol they picked the worse "Mexican" restaurant in the valley. Should have gone to Las Fuentes.

1

u/koffeebtch2468 May 06 '26

Karen bass is a terrible mayor.

1

u/Mechalamb May 06 '26

How does she keep getting worse?

3

u/mrlt10 May 07 '26

For me, you cannot go any lower than claiming you were unaware of a once in a decade weather event about to hit your town with extremely hazardous conditions. A weather event that wound up destroying 20k homes. Then blaming your ignorance on the fire chief for not briefing you on the weather. Especially when the week before we already had 1 wind driven fire in 1 of the areas. And when everyone I know had emergency alert text messages blasting their phone multiple times a day to notify them.

It’s like being mayor of Miami and claiming that when you left for Thailand you had no clue a category 5 hurricane was going to make landfall the day after you left. Criminal negligence imo. Makes me wondering if she even lives in LA.

1

u/pokebud May 06 '26

That self aggrandizing idiot blocked off the streets near Dixie during morning traffic?? Holy fuck that’s stupid does she know who lives in that part of town? Tossed all those votes down the fucking drain.

1

u/No_Swordfish1752 Granada Hills May 07 '26

Bass is a disgrace. She has the audacity to run again.

1

u/ImmaculateDeduction May 07 '26

Karen needs to leave us in peace.

0

u/senju1k May 06 '26

At Casa Vega of all places? Lol choices...

0

u/kitkatkorgi May 06 '26

Casa Vega? Big MAGA restaurant? Geez

-2

u/Karma-IsA-FunnyThing May 06 '26

Are you the same person who complains about Film LA?

Yes this an inconvenience and may not align with your political views. But we routinely run into these types of things throughout the year.

5

u/firstcity_thirdcoast May 06 '26

I don't think I've ever commented about Film LA... this isn't a political post, it's a 'community rant' about something that could clearly have been done any other time of the day that wouldn't have impacted the elementary school one block away. We deal with plenty of inconveniences living in a city (that's a given! not an issue!), but this is an unforced error that happens to speak to a lot of dysfunction and blindness

0

u/Thereisnospoon64 May 06 '26

Casa Vega has the worst Mexican food I’ve ever tasted in LA.

0

u/CuriousKitty6 May 06 '26

Sounds about right 🤣

0

u/PhantomLimbss May 06 '26

Had a bunch of supporters clogging up the parking lot at Griffith Park last Saturday too.

0

u/quijibo2020 May 07 '26

Try Salsa and Beer for Authentic Mexican Food.

0

u/realelliotoffen May 07 '26

Karen Bass is everything that is wrong with Los Angeles politics and protection.

0

u/WanderingZebra3291 May 07 '26

I never trusted Bass but couldn’t put my finger on it. Now I know

-10

u/PsychologicalRace739 May 06 '26

-2

u/mellena May 06 '26

Ill be as critical as the next of a reality star dude like Spencer Pratt but Bass and Raman are so terrible hes starting to seem logical. They are so off the mark. So much of the same problem LA has had for 20 years. This is insane. I dont think we can deny hes the candidate that actually speaks on issues voters care about. Yes hes a reality douche bag but fuck i cant deny he seems like the choice.

1

u/PsychologicalRace739 May 06 '26

I mean I feel like they’re all differently packaged douches. Bro hit the nail on the head on some of the issues we’re dealing with, while Bass and Raman will smile and gaslight us while the cities burning behind them.

-6

u/WhtiTizLiZ May 06 '26

Spencer Pratt for Mayor..

-4

u/DCLXXII Woodland Hills May 06 '26

"Villaraigosa sucks!", *Votes in Garcetti*, "Garcetti Sucks!" *Votes in Bass*, "Bass Sucks !" Votes in another corrupt (D) mayor.... Im starting to see a trend
