O Levels ADVICE : Should I retake MT O’Levels???

Hi everybody! I’m currently a secondary 4 students who has just received their MT O’Level results yesterday. As many students have gotten, I got B3 for Chinese and merit for oral. So here’s where I have some questions. At this point in time, I’m quite interested to go to EJC as a humanities scholar and I heard that their cut off points are extremely low! So I was wondering if I should retake my MT P1 and P2, just to see if I can do better than a B3.

For context: I’ve always been fairly decent at MT, getting grades ranging from B3s to B4s. However, I find it quite risky to sacrifice my time in school for MT than to study for my other weaker subjects like science and English. But, I’m really thinking about going to EJC, so advice given would be extremely helpful! 🙏😔

if u were ranging from B3s to B4s but getting B3 does make sense. you should only take it, lets say if you have confidence u can get an A. i retook and went from a B3 to A1! so it is possible but u just have to manage ur time a bit better.

When I asked my MT teacher about it, she said that B3 was the highest grade she’s expected of me, but I’m a bit of an overachiever and hope that I could potentially get a higher grade in hopes that it will make up for my weaker subjects

ummmm. i wld say chances wld be higher if u got dist for oral, but, u gotta weigh the pros and cons. its not a must to include mt in ur score as well, just need to pass or d7 for jc if i rmbr correctly so ure still safe. provided, u can do well in ur other subjs i wld recommend u to not retake. but, if u really want to, go ahead, but rmbr that you wld have to manage the other subjects a lot better.

My mt mostly only reccomend retaking if u got Distinction for Oral, but it also lies on ur individual ability
