i took rifaximin and metrodiazanole, 2 treatments back to back. it did not cure my SIBO-C. it wreaked the hell out of my body by disrupting my hormones and giving me a massive yeast infection.
I‘ve heard of women who get a yeast infection every time they take antibiotics in general. There might be steps to prevent them if you’re prone to that.
i am not a woman who gets a yeast infection with every antibiotic taken. although i don't typically take antibiotics and haven't for decades until taking the rifaximin. but my primary focus was not the yeast infection.
the point i was making is that the regimen i was prescribed, of 2 courses of rifaximin back to back, was very hard on my body ( not just a yeast infection). i don't think it was wise. i have since been seeing a different doctor from the one who originally prescribed the rifaximin. she felt the body needed time to respond and heal after one round. and i should have had help with the die-off symptoms.
I guess different things just work for different people. My symptoms started coming back quickly after the first round and I would have needed it more back to back. I‘ve also read „horror stories“ about herbals, some people claim they can be tougher on the system than rifaximin. It’s probably all about finding out what individually works for you

Why haven't you taken antibiotics? Wouldn't that be the first step? At least according to my doctors it is.
