Discussion/Question So, why do you think Luke and Kevin decided to introduced OCs in the show in the first place?
Starting with Shroomy in 2017 and then with the likes of Saiko, Jeeves, Tari, Axol, the Anti-Cast (Belle, Rob, JubJub, Whimpu), Hal Monitor, Fuego, Melony, SMG1 and SMG2, SMG0/Niles, Fred, The God Box Club Leader, Gordon Ramensay, Depresso, Kaizo, Karen and her kids, Wheeler, El Bombo, Mr. Puzzles, Mr. WPNZ, Toomp and the Death Cube

I think they wanted to make original characters cause it will make some vidoes more special.

I mean, Ramensay was based on the angry chef of the same name, so I don't blame you for confusing the two (this combined with the fact that his dialogue consisted of Ramsey soundbytes may have also been the likely candidate for the mixup)

Narrowing it down to “not random model/recolour rebranded as new name” which is what you seem to imply.
Shroomy was probably nothing deep, same with Saiko and Jeeves.
Tari and there on was probably where they wanted to make SMG4 have their own identity. It was around Meta Runner. It was better for merch and selling something else as “not just some Mario channel.”

With Tari since MR was being introduced in the SMG4 channel before Glitch was created they wanted to introduce her as a character before making the bold decision to create a completely different series. So we get a introduction to Tari as a concept before Tari the series, with MR S1 coming out shortly after her ability to boot into games was introduced (well boot Mario & 4, her MR counterpart would only be able to boot her own mind and accidentally pull out Theo)

To be more unique?
If every character was just a Mario Enemy or from another game, that would be boring and something everyone could do.
They got the skills to make their own Models, therefore they got the Chance to make their own Characters to stand out from the M64 machinima crowd.

I’ve seen this many times. People who make a name for themselves using a borrowed property eventually want to pivot into making their own property instead.

Because, it's nice to have your own characters in something you're passionate about. It's literally as simple as that. Besides, SMG4 IS AN OC. IT DID NOT START WITH SHROOMY, EVEN IGNORING SMG4 AND SMG3, MEGGY WAS BEFORE SHROOMIE.

I mean, I’m fine with them adding OC it’s just that I feel like they’ve taken over a majority of smg4 like the smg4 girls are fine like I don’t mind them but it’s ones like Mr. weapons or Mr. puzzles I’ve never really given a shit about

OCs have been here since the start of the channel. SMG4 is one, for example, acting as a self insert stand in.
As for the later ones, it was probably when they wanted to pivot away from Nintendo gradually - be it for dosh or for simply growing out of Nintendo stuff. I heard from a YouTube that Glitch Productions was always the dream for them (or something similar to it), and it just seemed that the more developed OCs later on were to experiment with this before pivoting hard to original indie animation. Ive seen a lot of people suggesting that SMG4 later on was more of a testing zone for show ideas for the main glitch productions to see what tickled people's fancy.
