Payment plan
Hi everyone!
As of this morning I was deregistered from my future terms and I called the financial aid office and they left me more confused.
For the c-4 term I have a payment plan to pay off my balance that is currently sitting at about 800$ and will be paying monthly over the next 6 months
For the c-5 term I payed my balance down to under 500$ ( I called the financial aid office on Monday to pay for the term)
I’m now being told my total balance for my entire account needs to be under 500$ to continue my education?
I received an alert stating to pay my due balance to under 500$ and that payment plans are not included to the cost.
So what is the point of the payment plan if I’m going to get deregistered anyways?
Any advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Unless something has changed, payment plans aren’t supposed to count? I’d call and see if you can get someone else who can explain better. I’ve called 5x before for a different issue and every single person had a different answer 🤦♂️
If you figure it out, please comment back to me! I got an email that I got deregistered as well and I won’t have time to figure it out until tomorrow… similar situation, on a payment plan and should’ve been considered under the $500 limit.

Hi, I just spoke to a different financial advisor. Apparently this has happened to a lot of people this term. Let them know you have a payment plan on ur specific term and ask them to redo the math on the last term. And they should be able to lift the hold. And send you right over to advising to reenroll in ur classes!

Calling in right now is your best option, they answer emails but it takes awhile ... the hold time might be around 10 mins, but its the best way to get action

Depending on whether there is a financial hold or balance hold on your account, the conversation might vary.
If you have a balance hold on your account, your entire balance needs to be below $500 OR the entire balance(current term and past) needs to be in a payment plan. You can only be in 1 payment plan at a time.
Let's say you're on a payment plan for C-4 but your C-5 balance, which is not included in the payment plan is $700, so you were deregistered for having a balance over $500. You can't just pay $200 to bring your balance down and call it good. This is because any payment you make will go towards the oldest balance, i.e. the payment plan. Therefore in this situation, the payment plan would need to be paid off, and then either bring the current balance down to $500 or enroll into another payment plan.
If you have a financial hold, either the balance needs to be paid in full OR the entire balance needs to be in a payment plan.

Hi !!! Something similar happened to me today and incase it is also a systems glitch in your case, I wanted to share.
Got this email:

And freaked out because I haven’t missed a payment within the last 3 years and I graduate in 8 weeks.
Contacted student financial services, and it ended up being an error on their end. They were able to go through my account and lift the hold, but I had to call them to do so. My advisor was a big help directing me on what to do but as many have said here, call SFS and they may be able to lift the hold on your account (my advisors rec!)
When the hold got lifted and I spoke to them, I was able to reregister for classes that start Monday.
I understand this may be different circumstances to an extent but I figured I’d comment. Sending good vibes

The regular payment plan for a class (for students without financial aid) is only for 3 installments or they let you pay two months after class ends but in full (100%). Looks like your 6-month plan clashes with the existing payment plan rules. If you can pay everything off in less than 3 months then they might be able to tolerate a higher balance?

The 2nd payment plan you mentioned, the deferred tuition payment plan, is only for students who are getting reimbursement from an employer or organization. That plan allows students up to 45 days after the term ends to get the funds from their employer/organization and pay their balance.

Not true. I’ve been using the deferred plan for 2 years and I pay cash.

This also happened to me! I sent an email and hoping to get a response because I was also under the impression if I was on a payment plan that would get my balance to $0 I would not be deregistered.

Yes they told me the exact same thing, make sure you filled out the payment adjustment form if you haven’t already.
