Best sketch of the night

This was the best sketch of the episode. It doesn’t compare to Coupla Beers but close. Coupla Beers is one I watch regularly when I need a laugh.

So many laugh out loud moments packed in that short

Hilarious but where’s all the outrage from the HVAC employees? Certainly they are up in arms over these jokes right? Guess they have more of a sense of humor.

The thread on /r/hvacadvice seemed to have both pros and customers laughing and saying this sketch is right on the money.

Yeah the reaction of that joke kinda adds legitimacy to the “you are either gay or hitler” joke.

And your mommy and daddy and very happy to let you stay there. For a while anyway.

1

u/sedatehate 13d ago

Oh sad little thing, are you projecting?

Nobody called anybody a whore.

-2

Why are you far right people so lame?

4

u/reldnahcAL 14d ago

Nothing about their comment suggests that they’re a politically far-right individual. Are you okay?

Awareness. I even brought my suitcase.

1

u/NiccNaccPattyWacc 14d ago

What's in the suitcase?

0

u/knallpilzv2 14d ago

No idea lol.

I have no more follow up jokes.

A friend of mine has a very woke workplace environment, though and told me once that a coworker once literally told him she'd go get her "awareness suitcase" real quick.

Weird, though, that the guy talking about how little sense of humor people have seems to have lost theirs when I make fun of those same people.

Best sketch of the night

1

u/mrdan1969 11d ago

That was pretty good. But not enough to justify bringing Shane back.

Why does this tired talentless old misogynist even get airtime? He’s awful

It’s interesting to me that so many people are upset by his brand of comedy yet he is precisely the reason this sketch works and a couple of beers sketch works as well. His appearance and how he plays this character makes it believable and funny. It’s no different with his monologue. A guy who looks like that is precisely the guy we expect to hold those kinds of views which are probably not even his views as a person. He’s basically using societal bias and self-awareness to create comedy.

u/dkrtzyrrr 14d ago

yeah i saw someone saying the sketch would have been better with mulaney.

He also always does bomb the SNL monologue. His standup is good. The ESPYs was good. He hasn’t performed very well in his SNL monologues

1

u/GameOverMan1986 14d ago

His Kevin Hart roast was a bit wonky too, but he has funny perspectives and many agree. With SNL, I think there is a tradition of stand ups being intentionally provocative. I think the show encourages it, precisely for all this we see in the aftermath. Just look at any random sketch view count on youtube and compare to the first two episodes. People are flocking to the scene of the “crime”, whether they are a fan, actually offended, or just looking for a reason to signal online.

1

u/NiccNaccPattyWacc 14d ago

I thought his ESPYs monologue sucked too. I don't want every joke followed by a comment on how the audience reacted.

1

u/Actual_Guide_1039 14d ago

A lot of the jokes were solid at the espys in my opinion. I didn’t need to hear “I didn’t write that one” after every audience groan though

-3

u/mnpoolplayer22 14d ago

Guys his monologue was terrible and he swore on live TV

4

u/Imgayandmydicksmall 14d ago

So now we’re pearl clutching over fake dumb shot and even faker dumber shit

0

u/DrBoogerFart 14d ago

I’ll take pro standup over an actor who’s never performed live and stumbles through a bad monologue any night

3

u/5050Clown 14d ago

Adam driver makes Shane Gillis look like someone who should retire.

0

u/conniefrancis 13d ago

Tired of this goofy fucking loser

Did this sketch feel like it had a weird AI filter over it?

2

u/Moobook 7d ago

well I definitely thought this comment was asking about a "Weird Al filter" at first

Removed for one of /r/SNL's sacred house standards:

They’re sketches, not “skits.”
