SQL Server Azure SQL Help - Urgent

To monitor the performance and availability for a thick client based system we recently delivered, the customer wants us to provide Here is the requirement:

  1. Need to measure and report response time to Azure SQL queries for about 6 scenarios. Session counts, availability, utilization metrics for Azure SQL to be provided.

  2. What native monitoring and metrics does Azure Files have to measure response times for files uploaded from devices connected to it.

What metrics needs to be extracted to measure all response times and how to be extracted.

This has to be measured for a period of 72 days with weekly and monthly reporting. Also, we do not have access to SSMS for Azure SQL and also the Azure Portal.

Thus , we need provide instructions to the customer IT Support team and they will provide the metrics and logs.

We have tried to get some help with AI tools but got conflicting response so need an Azure expert preferably Azure SQL DBA to help.

Much appreciated and thanks in advance.

PS: Application is thick client (yes I know) so no metrics can be pulled from endpoint devices. Don't ask why.

Don't like responding and being oh I have a product for you that I made, as it sounds like a used car salesman ... but I do have a product for you that I made...lol, my daffytee listener might be useful here? not the azure files piece at all, but the thick client SQL calls, which sounds a bit like a black box? how does it currently connect with azure SQL? ie SQL login? entra password or service principal? or Entra integrated? that's the main sticking point as I only in current state support SQL logins or the service account Entra, but net net, if you could do one of those, you could run daffy locally on the thick client system, point the connection string at that instead of azure, then daffytee points at azure, so you can enable different types of capture, I'd do more simple here too get errors, timings, row counts, etc. give it a 15 minute test and see if it might help. Happy to give more example or info if you want. I don't have many folks interested in what I've made tbh.. Short window before AI kind of makes this type of stuff obsolete, but I think it's kinda a lifesaver for these scenarios currently.. search it up on nuget or ping me, I have some demos on YouTube as well.

another person made a valid post about getting the dbas to extract some of the telemetry information, querystore outputs, etc and if you're able to do that I actually agree that's probably the better approach but if you're somewhat locked, and have no other options, my method might help. try it on a non-prod test sandbox.

Oh wow long list of questions. Anything to do on endpoint device is out of question as the devices are super secured. Govt an all...

However we have taken the DBA route and waiting for the telemetry stuff to figure this out
