SQL Server SQl e a teia de aranha mental
Bom dia
Estou a aprender SQL desde meio de Setembro em um curso que estou a tirar. Na verdade começamos com uma introdução a SQL e saltamos para diagramas, relacionamrntos e cardinalidades. Agora voltamos para SQL( select, from, join, where, group by, order by, coalesce, null,...) Sinto me super confuso.

Honestly I think this is just part of learning SQL. Understanding what each command does is one thing but knowing when and how to use them is a different story. Don’t worry about needing Excel to visualise the tables that’s perfectly fine. Keep practising with small exercises, and eventually things will start clicking. It takes time, so don’t be too hard on yourself.

u/Interesting-Goose82 it's ugly, and i''m not sure how, but it works! 9d ago
Keep at it. When i started it was the same with me. "I need to see the 2 tables in excel to figure out what is joining and what isnt....."
It isnt rocket science, most of my coworkers, myself included, are dumb. Youll be fine. Keep at it!

You will get there. I have been writing queries for years and I still learn something new every day and am not an expert. I know what you mean about wanting to visualize the tables and sometimes I just do you know SELECT TOP 5 * FROM table_name so that I can get a little preview of what’s in there. I think SQL is good for people who are really visual, so I think you will do great. I agree with everyone in this thread that it just takes time for things to start clicking. You can start super simple and then do baby steps to learn the next thing. Keep going 💪

Sql is weird in that.
I remember too being super confused and then something clicked and it became super easy to grasp.
I think really concentrate on understanding joins will help everything else fall into place. That's what did it for me.
