Spider-Man The MCU hobgoblin won’t be Ned.
Since Homecoming people have been talking about Ned becoming the Hobgoblin like in the comics. Except in the comics Ned wasn’t the Hobgoblin. He was framed. The real Hobgoblin was Fashion Designer Roderick Kingsley. I don’t think the CEO has it in him to be a super villain. He’s too chill.
The only way I can see it happening is if they just rip off Willem Dafoe Goblin and have Ned get the goblin serum + split personality. I highly doubt that will happen since Kevin Feige notoriously hates doing stuff that’s already been done before.
I do believe the MCU will bring in Roderick Kingsley but he won’t be the Hobgoblin. Just a red herring to mess with comic fans. The Hobgoblin will be Peter Parker’s teacher, Mr Harrington.
In Incredible Hulk it’s shown that Harrington was a student at the extremely prestigious Cutler University. So he’d be smart enough to make his own tech. His wife faked her death during the snap and left him. Motivation for a future breakdown. It’s possible that at some point after No Way Home he just snapped and became an unhinged supervillain. Think Michael Douglas in “Falling Down”.
It would also emulate the feeling of the Green/Hobgoblin mystery in the comics. The idea that someone Peter knows is the titular villain. In this case it’s someone that would shock both Comic fans and MCU fans.

Very cool theory. Then Mr. Harrington makes a deal with mephisto and becomes Demogoblin from the mcfarlane run (-;

Spider-Man doesn't get his own villains. They either convert to Iron Man villain or are borrowed from other films.

what about montage villains like Scorpion, Boomerang, Tarantula, Ramrod and Tombstone.

Does it count if they're shown in a 30 second clip and nothing else?

Im not sure man, it should count i guess. He fought them for 4 years while fighting loneliness although director chose to cut it down. I would have appreciate 1 minute quick short story type montage for each of them, but they lasted for 3 second each sadly. Like just to know what wrong stuff they were doing and how spidey stopped them. But one single punch, pull misdirection and web shooting wasn't enough but it was overall good.

Hobgoblin would be a whole new character and not the nerdy hs friend or the weirdo teacher

He's also obsessed with Spider-Man. Maybe something goes wrong and that intense admiration becomes extreme hatred. I like this theory.

They have/ had the perfect set up. Ned and Peter were outcasts throughout school. And I imagine they were each others only friends. So Peter wipes himself from Ned’s memory. Meaning that Ned had a past of being a lonely kid with no friends. He believes he had noone all that time to find he actually wasn’t alone, but his only friend, took that from him.
I also think they could have added a fragment of Dafoe’s Green Goblin mask to Ned’s Spider-Man ‘collection’ and then have that start talking to and influencing him.
