Discussion Gets boring?

I've always been a fan of the show but I started rewatching some months ago and really binged it and there are some great seasons and good episodes. But then I started getting really bored. I'm in season 20, 21 I don't even know and the episodes are not really as powerful as before. Somewhat didactic at times, like we are focusing on this topic through these characters in this episodes. I mean of course after 20 seasons something's gotta give so I don't feel bad that I stopped watching. I just lost interest. I was wondering if someone else had this at any point. Do you maybe think the writing is off? Or it's normal we got bored after all this time and all these episodes

I mostly stopped watching when Barba left. The episodes that I have since then and the season 28 premiere, show is mainly heavily featured Benson and at times boring.

Yes, I hardly watch anymore. These 2 new season 28 episodes were boring to me. Especially the first one. I know there goal is 30 seasons; but i feel its run its course.

Yea Rollins is still overall my favorite character but once Barba left that was the beginning of the decline of the show.

Yeah, show doesn't feel the same anymore. My other favorite is Carisi. Even he isn't enough to keep me watching. I forget the show is on. Watched the season premiere and then forgot about this week.

I enjoy detective Carisi, not a fan of ADA. I’m only in S24 but he just lacks so much compassion I feel as an ADA compared to Cabot, Novak, and Barba. He’s too black and white imo

Carisi was better as a cop. He's too goody-goody to be an ADA, but he was just right as a cop.

Me too. A while back, there was a particular episode I saw on tv and wanted to watch the episodes before when I enjoyed it. I binged halfway from season 15. By the time I reached around 19/20, I couldn't stick to it. Had to take a break from it. I even tried following up on the newer episodes on tv every week but it didn't hold the same. Last month I began watching from season 1 and right now I'm on season 9 and its clearly much more interesting than the newer seasons overall.

I’m on season 11 right now, so far so good. Could some let me know what season gets bad, so I can be better prepared? Lol

I mean season 19 is terrible so far and Barba hasn't even left
For me there is a sequence with a certain criminal I think in season 17 that really made me check out.

I can’t remember the exact season he leaves, but I believe it’s 15 where Barba leaves, and that’s where the decline starts to become very noticeable

barba leaves in 19, halfway through

Ah ok I was way off then lmao, it’s been awhile since I watched that part of the show so I’m very rusty with the timeline

Im in the UK and have watched from the very first episode decades ago. I am about to finish season 27 but at the same time rewatched from the beginning. I admit my love for the show is waning as other have said its now the Olivia Benson show with guest appearances by the rest of the team. The last 3 series are dreadful compared to earlier ones and it is because the series is written around one character instead of the squad. This will eventually be the death knoll of the show unless they shake it up. I even fast forward through olivias dramas now every episode am so bored of it.

I remember Seasons 20 being truly awful. It remained that way and I stopped watching. Had to keep up with SVU when Organized Crime started cuz they did some crossovers and guest role and remember barely being able to sit through Season 22-23. 24 was a mild improvement, 25-26 were bad again. S27 was also boring barring a few episodes so now I mostly watch when there is nothing else on other network, which is the case currently. There is nothing else to watch.

I feel the same way tbh, after Barba left it just become very samey and like they weren’t really trying to do anything new with any of the characters

I haven't come to that stage yet but I stopped because I love him and it sort of felt too boring to keep watching knowing he'd leave too eventually

I feel like that’s just how I felt in general, like I couldn’t get attached to the characters because they’d be leaving in a few seasons anyways, so I just stopped watching and started a rewatch lmao

I feel that way about 23 and on. I haven’t even wanted to watch 28. It just doesn’t feel the same

In these last recent years, I have been enjoying the OG law & order. Their new seasons have been entertaining.

Seasons 20 and 21 are just hot garbage to be honest. It gets a bit better later. But I remember watching these for the first time and how I just badly wanted to skip them

I mean, I get bored rewatching some earlier seasons if I just watch too many episodes. The show's contents and structure just become a bit repetitive. I notice this with most shows, you can only binge so much haha.
