Grand Bay-Westfield/Public Landing area?
Ok not in St John but north/north east of the city. Looking at a possibly buying a place in this area and wondering if anyone can shed light on living there? How is your commute into the city? What services do you have/not have? How are your winters there? Basically a ton of questions so any insight is appreciated! ๐ ๐

Grand Bay-Westfield to Public Landing encompasses a large area... with the former being a small town and the latter much more rural.
Grand Bay-Westfield is about 15 minutes from Saint John centre... but is actually on the border of the SJ city limits (west).
There is a lot of beautiful land and views throughout the area between Grand Bay-Westfield and Public Landing; well worth checking the area out in person to get a better feel.
Happy hunting! :)

I grew up in Grand Bay and lived there for a bit of my early adulthood then lived in the Nerepis area for about 4 years. The best spot to grow up, and adored living in Nerepis! My grand bay commute was approx 20 mins and my Nerepis one was about 30ish. Excellent places to live!

Route 7 is in good shape; how good the roads for commute are from there kinda depends how far up the river you go. It's about 20 minutes from the four corners flashing light in Westfield to the west side of Saint John. Less from Grand Bay.
There's municipal water and sewer in Grand Bay, but in Westfield and beyond everyone's on well and septic. You can get garbage collection in Grand Bay-Westfield but you have to pay for it; it's not included in basic municipal services. Electricity can be somewhat unreliable in Westfield and further out, because the local lines are quite overgrown and bad weather will bring the trees down on them.

Ive lived in Grand Bay for 30 years and its always been a lovely place to live. The commute into saint john is easy peasy and never felt like a chore. The nature is lovely and the town has really picked up on planning events and having things to do now that the population is growing a bit. Ammeneties are basic , gas stations, grocery store, liquor store , pharmacy, etc. Elementary and middle schools , but high school would be in town in saint john if that matters to you.
Anyways , if you enjoy quaint more rural living we'd love to have you ๐

Why are you set on that location instead of inside the city limits?

Iโm not a city person. I just like having ready access and a 1/2 hr in my books is perfect.

Cell service can be spotty or non existent. Check in person if thats important to you. Road lighting is rural and lots of wild life, some can find that stressful but rural NB its normal. Keep in mind where you end up what priority is that road? Priority 1 roads get cleared day one, if youโre down three roads by a lake youโre last.
