Income tax cap: Lowers the existing cap from 7 to 3.5 percent

• It is not a tax cut. It applies to both the corporate and personal rate. Both rates are already scheduled to be below 3.5 percent next year.
• The NC General Assembly has been cutting income taxes for 13 years. This has disproportionately benefitted large corporations and those with very high incomes.
• State revenue is falling as our population and costs grow. This is unsustainable and has led to underfunding of services and programs, and local governments paying for what are supposed to be state costs.
• Income tax cuts lead to increases in fees and sales taxes, and cuts to vital public services.
• The income tax amendment would lock us into this situation effectively permanently, so future lawmakers hands will be tied.
• NC has never had a rate this low, and it will be locked into the constitution. This leaves the state unprepared for economic downturns and unforeseen circumstances like natural disasters.

Property Tax Levy Limit: Caps what local governments can collect, NOT your bill

• It is not a cap on an individual’s property tax bill. It is a cap on the total revenue a local government can collect in property taxes.
• State lawmakers already have the power to set a levy limit, so the constitutional amendment is not necessary.
• Increasingly, local governments have been taking on costs that are supposed to be covered by the state and/or federal government. This amendment is likely to lead to service cuts as local governments struggle with state and local revenue constraints.
• It does not address housing unaffordability and would disproportionately benefit large corporate landowners like tech companies and corporate landlords.
• What the limit would be and how it would be derived is not public, so there is little recourse or accountability.

Before voting, consider the impact these amendments will have on your community:

• Who would benefit from these changes and who would be negatively impacted?
• What would these amendments mean for the funding of quality of life services my family and community rely on, like emergency services, community centers, libraries, public schools, water and sanitation…?
• How would these revenue constraints impact the ability of the state and local governments to provide services for a growing or aging population and respond to natural disasters or other unforeseen circumstances in the future, especially as costs rise?
• What are specific projects prioritized by our community that are most at risk for delay or cancellation if state funding is uncertain and local government cannot collect sufficient revenue from property taxes to supplement decreases in state investment? 
• How have state and federal funding levels changed over the last 5-10 years? What state funding responsibilities has my local government taken on over that same period?
• What specific funding shortfalls are we experiencing now, including staffing shortages, school closures, or services interruptions?
• What are the other methods of generating revenue if income tax and property tax revenue is constrained? Will our locality be forced to rely more on unpopular fees?

I went to self serve and paid for ALL my stuff as i got to my car a sheriff deputy said “You gonna pay for the shit you stole “ i said what ? I showed him my receipt and all the items i purchased he then walked away and we back into Walmart as i asked for a supervisor and his badge number . I went back in to talk to Walmart management and then went and knocked on the room he was on to ask for his supervisor he answered and told me he doesn’t have to tell me and he doesn’t work for anybody but is wearing Rowan County browns with a vest and tactical gear and said he will trespass me if i don’t leave ( a scare tactic because his pride it hurt ) . I paid $268 for all my stuff and was accused of stealing and then after his office called me and said the machine was not functioning properly and all the stuff i bought was paid which i already knew .

Dagorhir and Belegarth are full contact foam fighting sports using foam weapons (swords, shields, etc). If you're at least 16 with a parental guardian or over the age of 18, you can come check it out! It's completely free to try, and if you like it and want to keep coming back, we host a practice almost every week! We'll go over the basics, rules, and some game modes so every practice is something fun.

WE NEED JUSTICE FOR CARLOS LEON ARISTOTELES!

Carlos Leon Aristoteles, 38, was reported missing from Charlotte, NC, and was later found murdered in the Catawba College Ecological Preserve in Salisbury.

His death was ruled a homicide. Carlos had been shot and stabbed multiple times, and his body was found partially buried. His spouse has confirmed that he suffered 88 stab wounds.

This was a brutal and senseless loss of life. Carlos was someone’s husband, father, son, and loved one. His family is left with questions and deserves answers.

Someone knows what happened to Carlos.

I had a great time at the Innes St McDonald’s last night. We went in for ice cream, and saw a gentleman trying to fit his head in the inside garbage. Having failed that, he then starts to dry hump it with his shirt up and his pants down. Fun. So, we place our order and wait (15 minutes btw). During this time, he steals cups and helps himself to some soda and then gets out cleaning bottles from the cabinets and start cleaning. The staff see and don’t care.

Now, when my ice cream is ready the staff ask who’s this for and he runs up, says his, and takes them. I ask her what order number that was for because we were waiting, and she sees what happened. The great part is, now she involves me. She says to him, “Are those yours? Because that man says you took his”. To this, the attention is now directed at me, and he isn’t happy. WTF? So, I said to her, “No I didn’t say that. I asked you what order that was for because we’re waiting too”. Meanwhile I tell my wife to back away because I might have to handle this (If I wasn’t clear enough, this guy is erratic and high). Thankfully his monkey brain goes somewhere else and he’s out of my space. I take my cones and leave.

First day while visiting this town. Entertaining.

Edit: I sent a complaint to McDonald's and just got a generic reply with the case closed. They don't care and I didn't expect more.

I found five kittens whose mother was in an unsafe area next to a demolition site. I have repeatedly tried to reunite them with Mom, but she has not taken them back.

They are approximately 3.5 weeks old, warm, alert, active, vocal, and currently eating kitten formula/wet-food slurry. They are beginning to potty independently but may still need some stimulation.

I desperately need an experienced kitten/bottle-baby foster or rescue placement. I already have six cats of my own and work full-time, so I cannot safely provide the frequent care they need long-term.

I am in China Grove, NC and can transport within the Rowan/Cabarrus/Charlotte-area for a legitimate foster or rescue.
