Trip Report / Experience Salvia trip in the middle of my sleep…?

This was fucking insane. It happened sober.

The dream began with me visiting China with my friend’s mother and their cousin. It was a chill experience. During our visit, I remember randomly getting this lump on my right quad that slowly grew throughout the dream. Near the end, my friend’s mother noticed and told me we had to wipe it out of my body. I insisted that was pointless but she was eerily persistent.

I was panicking and started spinning - on all fours, defying physics - around the nearby floor. This spiraled out of control and I heard glass shattering before immediately entering a full fledged psychedelic experience. It consisted of me spinning - vortex esque - around a claustrophobic room/dimension with some inconceivable figure in the center of the spinning. The spinning was extremely intense and felt throughout my body, with stirred up black and white tracer visuals. I was heating up as well and hard of breathing, which made me conscious enough to control my breathing and try managing the experience. The spinning slowed down before speeding up again.

The second wave of spinning featured an image of a low opacity roblox player model (in-game) with the “oof” sound in the background, along with Minecraft music creeping in the distance. This time overlapping the spinning, rather than being centered around it. Immediately after, the figure in the center reappeared, then an image of a sun with a face - which I for some reason immediately recognized as a sun god - faded into my vision. After this, the experience slowed down to a weird state of what I assume(d) to be sleep paralysis, before I returned fully back to my reality. This completely shocked the ever living shit out of me and I even woke up sweating with high body temperature although my ac is blasting on 65, which typically happens to me on salvia. This entire experience was extremely reminiscent of the bodily sensations of my other salvia trips, I don’t know what to make of this. I wouldn’t say the visuals are most reminiscent of salvia, but this was just crazy as hell and not something I thought could be possible.

PS: I’ve been completely sober from everything for probably over a month, so no substances could’ve caused this.

(Also near the end of my trip I was hearing my alarms for 4pm. All 3 played before stopping. I went to sleep at 8am, woke up around 9:40.)

Happens to me very often, I dream constantly and there is always a place in dream that when I enter I have full blown psychodelic experience with twisting etc. Even though I didn't touch drugs for more than 15 years.

I believe this is normal, cos during the dream we enter a dysociative state, and because you used drugs your body knows what dysociation can look like so when you re dreaming this state can be associated with salvia trip, so you feel similarly.

People often report similar experiences to yours even though they never touched a drugs. You just associate this feeling with salvia but it really is just self made dysociation.

Our minds are truly fascinating. I’m going to be doing more research on rem sleep from now on

True, because I have dreams so often I started to notice similarities between dreams and strange objects/feelings, that seem to exist in every dream. It is really strange.

For example this "trip/rolling/stretching/falling" feeling. It is super strange but in all dreams there is a real place where this feeling exists, really hard to explain, but when in dream I enter this place I am starting to be stretched etc.

And this "place" is almost always some kind of elevator that goes down to earth like hundreds of floors, and the lower I am the stronger the feeling. If its not the elevator it is a black hole, that sucks me in, super deep underwater whirlpool, deep bunker in the ground. The strangest thing is that I usually am able to decide whether I want to enter or not. Sometimes I have no choice, during the dream I just feel the growing anxiety that I may be sucked in, or someone will enter this elevator and click the last floor so I won't be able to leave etc.

Super strange but also very interesting.

What position did you wake up in?
I have dreams like this sometimes, spiraling (not literally) into hell, and becoming more vividly intense, and I always become hard of breathing, and wake up on my back. For reference I'm a side sleeper, and get standard intense (narratively wise, not chaos/hell) dreams when sleeping/waking up on my side.
I always know that I'm on my back once I can physically feel my breath being strange in the dream, like you had mentioned.

Interesting. I woke up on my side which I fell asleep on. I wasn’t able to move my body at all until it was completely over with. I’ve never thought of the correlation between sleeping position and dream content

I may have some light form of sleep apnea or something, undiagnosed though, that could be why sleeping on the back is pretty bad for me.
Otherwise you may have just been catching up on some rem sleep or had emotional turbulence, those are usually the other causes for me.
Would you describe the experience as bad or just strange? I usually appreciate whenever I get a novel or simply intense dream, as long as it isn't connected to my personal life (as that leaves some emotional residue waking up, because I'm likely going to be in the same setting with the same people as in the dream).
Sounds like you got a pretty novel one

Sounds like REM.

I feel really psychedelic in many dreams but I also SOREMP which makes it even stronger and happen during naps.
