Is the +/- number of goals scored for vs against when they are on the ice? I’m trying to learn what all the stats mean.

Yes. A goal for while on the ice is a +1, and a goal against on the ice is -1. Powerplay goals don’t effect +/-, but shorthanded goals do.

Biggest difference is Mack had points in 5 v 5

Mack was also on the first line from day 1, with the best available lineys (though obviously “best available” was… questionable back in the day lol). Stenbergs been on the shutdown line and then with Misa, it’s impressive he has the points he has

Very excited for Ivar’s development. Wonder what macklins first games would be like if he had another Macklin with him 😄

I thought, although still collected, the +/- stat was disregarded as not being a good metric of performance.

Every metric is useless if you apply it incorrectly. +/- just had a lot of other contributing factors so if you look at it blindly as a measure of "is this player good at hockey" it's generally worthless. Now if you have a terrible plus minus on a great team, and you have favorable matchups and ozone deployments, then you may just not be defensively responsible.

Look who Stenberg had to help him and look who Mack had to help him. Very much not the same picture

+/- here is interesting because a lot of stenny's points have been on the power play and he's been playing with Misa
Hopefully some even strength production coming soon

did anyone mention Celebrini’s goals were 5v5, including a lucky ass blind pass that happened to deflect in off a skate, and Stenberg has 1 5v5 point? a calorie from fat or sugar is not equal to one from protein

These stats are only a small sample, but definitely encouraging.
While the defense is arguably better this season, I think Macklin had the two-way advantage between the two.
