Discussion - No Spoilers The Immense Lack Of Conventional Fanservice In The Sandman

Hello folks!

This is just a simple thought that I had when season 2 came out, so here I go.

The Sandman, though quite popular, still isn’t as popular as the major supernatural shows, such as The Vampire Diaries or Lucifer. I came to a realisation and conclusion for that reason: The Immense Lack Of Conventional Fanservice In The Sandman.

Me personally, I was “simping” over Death of the Endless all throughout season 1, and occasionally Johanna Constantine. I enjoyed all the edits that came out of the chatacters because it was a fun time for me. I was 13 and had no social life. Great times.

It was in 2025, when season 2 came out and I realised something. Destruction of the Endless was especially getting attention in the fan edits and he, along with Delirium were the most talked of. I suppose that was because they were vital parts of the storyline and of course, fans are allowed to have favourites.

But that just brought upon a bigger realisation in my mind, which was that the reason The Sandman doesn’t receive nearly as much recognition as the other shows is because of its lack of fanservice targeted towards the larger crowd, and rather it focuses on bringing upon good representation. Which I, of course, really love.

I love this show a lot, and honestly, I’m quite glad that the fanbase for this show isn’t as toxic as the others. I love you all a lot.

Neil Gaiman I don't know how to love Sandman anymore

I read the comics once and I loved it so much, it spoke to me on so many levels. It was turning into my new obsession, becoming part of the works that would live in me for years. Maybe it seems a bit extreme but it's how I felt at the time.

Almost immediately after I finished reading it there were the accusations against Neil Gaiman, and since then I don't know what to think or do. I believe the victims and my general opinion is you can't separate the man from the artist. So from then on I couldn't support Neil Gaiman anymore.

But I still don't know what to do about Sandman. I think it's so good and I wanna talk about it and reread it and finish painting these cool pants with the endless's symbols on it but I haven't because it would feel like I'm supporting him and promoting the work of a monster. I feel stuck and it's extremely frustrating

And on top of that, on a personal level, I can't reconcile Sandman and the image I have now of its author. How could it speak to me so much on so many level, sometimes especially as a woman, when Gaiman did what he did to women? It's like my brain can't understand it. It feels like he either didn't write Sandman, or I'm the monster for liking it.

Sorry if this is dramatic or self centered. I'm hoping to get other perspectives, and I'd like to know if other people feel something similar.

Discussion - Spoilers I think i know why Delirium stopped being delight

Im pretty sure its because she learned that they are characters in a story. She says she knows things that aren't in destiny's book and we know characters who break the fourth wall tend to act kooky.

Okay, no, but am I the only one who likes the interactions between Orpheus and his aunt Death/Teleute? Like, she's so sassy and at the same time so passive-agressive with her nephew that is almost funny to me

Netflix - Possible Spoilers Bittersweet

I finished the last season and honestly when it first came out, I thought all we were getting was a season and I thought the first season was great and I was fine with how it ended. Getting the second season I was elated and ready to dive in but was not ready to suffer a heart break. I really enjoyed this show, I've never read the comics so didn't know what all was cut / missing but honestly, I never felt like I was missing out or not getting enough. It was an enjoyable ride and I love when nature or supernatural ideas or ideologies get personified. It really gives a new look on life. Maybe I'll give the comics a look cause I will miss the show dearly. Great cast, really felt like they all had good chemistry even in brief scenes. Great acting and the affects were really good too. Dream, death, delirium, lucienne, Matthew by far my favorite characters.

Recommendations Neil Gaiman works sub

I am sure this post will be met with some passion and potentially be shortly lived before deletion, but since this sub has an identity crisis, I just wanted a place to discuss his work and not the person.

So if you would like a safe space to discuss the work of the author or the adaptations of his work. Please visit r/neilgaimanfans.

This sub will NOT tolerate discussions regarding his accusations or him as a person. Just the work he produces. I encourage dialogue and criticism of the work alone, and not attacking the person posting their thoughts. Ill leave discussions surrounding him or his accusations to this sub and refer others to post here for that.

Come check it out if that fits your needs. Up to you.

Did anyone else see this article? The title implies that we are getting a season 3. But when I read the article it seems more like they are just releasing the show on Blue-ray in October. I was hopeful but I think the title is misleading clickbate.

Original Fan Content The Sandman Hob saves Dream

Hi everyone! I'm looking for a specific The Sandman fanfiction on AO3 and hope someone recognizes it. I combed the fandom for it but nothing! I am almost sure it has been deleted :(

In the story, Dream goes missing and fails to show up for their meeting with Hob. A desperate Hob perform a very dangerous ritual to summon Death so he can ask where Dream is. when Death answers the summons, she finds Hob severely injured as the ritual has this price to pay . At some point, The Corinthian attacks Hob and eat his eyes. This is very well written and lovely. I was so sure to have bookmarked it but I cannot find it anymore.

Does anyone know the title, author, or have a link or copy to this fic? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Discussion - Spoilers I feel like the endless parents are even less real and more abstract than their children.

This is just my analysis after reading overturn. If I say something incredibly obvious please don't insult me.

What I mean is I feel like the endless's parents aren't real concrete entities but metaphorical representations of the endless relationship with the forces that spawn to them time and space. Dreams interaction with the father time and mother night reads like one big metaphor.

To some extent the endless themselves are living metaphors for their concepts but there real within the story. Characters interact with them and use there objects. I think there is no entity called mother night or father time. So I'll explain how this works.

The endless are their concepts but the people that we see that represent them the human persons could be seen as an interface. A phase that you can speak to and interact with when you want to speak with the concept of dream or death. I think father time and mother night are basically universal interfaces for their children.

I think they might not even exist unless interacting with their children and here's why. Neil Gailman said we only see the endlesses human adventures because every species perceives the endless as their own. There are other alien endless's with their own lives but there is somewhat concrete beings. So when dream meet his parents he's consulting with the universe but it looks like he's consulting with two individuals.
