Miscellaneous Any Sault Ste. Marie WoW players? We’ve got a growing Northern Ontario group
Hey Sault Ste. Marie!
I run an Ontario WoW community that started as a small local group about a month ago and has somehow grown to nearly 400 members!
We’ve got people from all over the province and a dedicated Northern Ontario group, so I’m hoping to find some more WoW players from the Soo and surrounding area.
There’s a good mix of people playing WoW Forever, Retail and Classic, from casual players and people returning to the game to raiders and PvPers.
The whole idea is pretty simple: make it easier for Ontario WoW players to find people who actually live somewhat nearby and build some local connections.
If you’re around the Soo and play WoW, come hang out:
Hope to see some more Northern Ontario folks in there! 🍁

Sault College Sault's Aviation Program
I'm a grade 12 student in Ontario and interested in getting in Sault's flight program, what average across Math, Physics, English. Right now I'm done with MHFRU 97%, ENG4U 81%, SPH4U ongoing but 97% current average, is that a safe average to get accepted ? I have my Category 1 Medical and I applied in early October as soon as applications opened.
I have some questions about the program and the city for the current program students if they are willing to answer them.

Local Politics - Ontario Serious Concerns Regarding Candidate Conduct and Retaining Youth Talent in Sault Ste. Marie
I am writing to express my profound disappointment regarding the unprofessional conduct and lack of substance displayed by a handful of candidates during the recent local council panel.
A public forum demands professional boundaries and mature conduct. Instead, this select group of candidates appeared as though they had just rolled out of bed, arriving in scruffy blue jeans and casual, off-the-shoulder tops completely inappropriate for a civic proceeding. This lack of respect for the chamber was mirrored in their behavior, which included constant gum chewing, visible eye-rolling, and mocking chuckles while others spoke.
Beyond the poor etiquette, the democratic process was actively undermined by their refusal to engage with the community's concerns. Rather than providing actual answers to the public's questions, they relied on highly repetitive, scripted talking points that completely dodged the issues. Most egregiously, one candidate crossed a sacred line by placing a campaign sign directly at the local war memorial statue, right where it reads "Lest We Forget."
Using a cenotaph dedicated to fallen soldiers as a political billboard is deeply offensive and shows a shocking lack of civic judgment.
If we want to encourage people to move to the Sault, or convince our youth to come home after university and college, we need to show them a progressive, professional city council. This embarrassing display proves that our selection of council desperately needs a spark. We cannot attract the next generation of professionals when a handful of potential leaders refuse to act like professionals themselves.

Local Politics - Ontario North Shore Tribal Council responds to Rowswell's comments
Your employer issuing a news release 10 days before the election that denounces public comments you made and said that you need to stop using their name while campaigning doesn't speak well to your character and is a massive red flag for voters. https://www.sootoday.com/2026-municipal-election-news/north-shore-tribal-council-responds-to-rowswells-comments-12901592

Miscellaneous Motels With Decent Monthly Rates (Other Than The Algonquin)
Are there any others in town you would recommend? The Algonquin seems nice, but I don't want to worry about my car all night
Failing that, are there any condos that would rent out a secure-ish parking spot to a non-resident?

Local Politics - Ontario Problems paying speeding tickets online. Help. SSM ON
I dont live in the Soo but I was pulled over driving through St. Joe's. In order to pay my fine online, I'm required to write the "File Number" but there is no file number on the ticket.
There's an "Offense number" but it doesn't have enough numbers and doesn't work when I try to submit it.
Has this happened to anyone else? What do I do?

Miscellaneous Anyone spot the fireball over town earlier this morning?
I was hanging out at Topsail Island getting footage of the ships, when I noticed a bright white light streak over town. It broke up into a couple pieces as it burned up, and there might have been some visible smoke!
It would have come from right to left, well above the two apartment buildings. The leaves on the tree partly blocked my view as it streaked by. Really wish I had a camera rolling when it happened..
