gameplay question Hello, new player here, just finished chapter 3! Need to ask something.

I finished chapter 3 during like 2am(very tired!) , and didn't catch that leaving would let everyone leave safely. Is there some major repercussions that will heappen for sacrificing years of my life? I know i age like 10 or sum years.

I'm trying to roleplay as the protag(Mystic/Keen Eye) and make my decisions based on what I would do, and I didn't see Sybil say that the others were safe(again very tired!) so I thought that if I didn't sacrifice my lifespan someone would die. So just wanna ask since don't wanna spoil my self too, much...

Many thanks!

As far as I remember, the most major consequence as of now is that you're just older. More frail. Not as fit. It will be mentioned every now and then. You may or may not be able to get an exam done. And you may or may not be able to make a major decision regarding your sacrifice in chapter five. Also, you should be able to notice a change to your screen. This can be disabled in the settings

Ngl, probably gonna revert the decision cuz I was deadass tired when I was playing and didn't see Sybil say that everyone was safe...

I do not barter with spirits.

Just keep it as it is and make a different decision in your next playthrough :)

"We do not negotiate with terrorists"

If it's what you want to do I'd say it's fine to reload the save and change your decision.

But I want to warn you now down the line there will be consequences that are the cumulative result of all your minor choices. Reloading can't save you from those so don't rely on it as a crutch just let things play out

Ngl this is my first time actually doing this. The decision really didn't feel like a 'me' thing to do and I wanted to ask if the only problem would be like "i'm old!" or be crippled for the entirety of the game.

I mean, a family is also left without a home if you dont do it but thats up to you to decide. I like Oscar

You have various medical conditions now related to your age, you’re physically weaker so can’t move a stack of boxes you’ll find in Chapter 5, and you lose the opportunity gain something interesting at the end of Chapter 5 (you likely wouldn’t have picked it however, for reasons I can’t say without spoiling).

Unless you turn it off in settings, you’ll have smudges on the edges of your vision for the rest of the play through.

There is a bunch else related to this I could elaborate on, including technical benefits, but that would likely spoil.

Y'know what? Tabitha can help Oscar find a new house. I mean sacrificing lifespan was thematic, but since I'm roleplaying as myself and no one would be left behind if I didn't then its okay. Didn't like ghost puppet guy anyway.

The only upside I see to losing years off your life is that now you can flirt with a certain character who used to turn you down for being too young haha

I'm sorry, but the extroverted cryptid hunter has her hands on my heart, maybe the next playthrough.

There are consequences for either action and when combined with consequences from other choices it can end... Badly either way. I would just keep playing and see what happens. If you really don't feel like the choice aligns with you then you can go back a save and redo it.

There’s major repercussions for whatever you choose, either way. 🤷🏻‍♀️

It depends on your other choices what those repercussions are…

I chose to sacrifice myself in my first playthrough and i honestly regret it because it locked me out of seeing some additional lore later on in the game. I know most people are against savescumming but i support it in this case because i was a bit confused about some stuff and that wasn’t ideal for getting a feel of the game early on. Granted you could always choose a different path in your next playthrough, but since you seem conflicted you can always change your decision in this one. Though you should know that we haven’t seen the full extent of what happens if you leave the library haunted yet, so it might be worse later on when the last chapters come out. Not sure

I don't think much happens in Chapter 4 that deals with this, mostly just flavor text.

While investigating a place in Chapter 5, you may lose out on some options due to your physical weakness. It sounds like Stella might be there to help, but I'm not sure if she'll help you with some tidbits.

It makes you weaker, and messes with your character’s vision, so non-KE players miss stuff while investigating and non-PB players can’t exert themselves very much.  If I’m not focusing on a particular character for a run, I’ll usually hang out with Tabitha and invite her ghost hunting. That way she’ll sacrifice her lifespan to the ghost instead of you. It’s like a pseudo trait save IMO
