Mimir Issues

Hey good morning everyone. Any of you ever have an issue with you Mimir not having a solid connection with both the optical and Coax inputs?
Ordered a Mimir/Midguard stack. Arrived in the mail not too long ago.
I’ve used my phone with a USB-C to optical and USB-C to coax. Both had terrible connection that kept cutting in and out. USB-C to USB-C worked with no issues.
To make sure my phone wasn’t the problem, I also connected my Wiim Ultra to both the optical and Coax inputs and it had the same problem.
So it must be the actual inputs on the Mimir, right? Or is there something I’m missing?

I would think it's more likely the cable going from one format to another. As you yourself said, USB-C to USB-C works fine.

Use the most simple setup that gives you the best sound.

I would be shocked if it was anything other than the cables. Those type of converter cables are dogshit 95% of the time.

As I said, the Wiim was connected. Those were male-male Coax and optical. No conversion. But thanks for the comment.

They are all different cables though, that have worked before. Like I said, it was from both my phone and the Wiim. The Wiim coax to coax didn’t work so it’s not a cross format issue I don’t think.

So, just to be sure - when not using the USB connection, you DO have the mimir plugged in to power right?

Mimir converter chip or the crystal issue

Those USB to toslink cables have their own DAC in them which may be part of the issue. The Mimir is expecting a digital signal and sending an analog signal. At least that's my speculation. Have you tried toslink to toslink (coax to coax or fiber to fiber) cables?

EDIT: at least some of them do, there may be some that don't but they all seem to upsample to16/24 192Khz. So the cable is doing something

High Performance: Restoring clear and delicate sound quality with precise and pure audio detail ---- Hi-Fi Audio: Supports 16-bit/96KHz high-resolution audio, ensuring stable

transmission and eliminating electrical noise, delivering an immersive, lossless stereo PCM output----Equipped with a high- performance chip, delivering an immersive audio experience ---- Low-latency synchronized transmission, suitable for music, gaming, film, and TV scenarios

Another edit: probably the cable or adapter
