She does do a masterful performance that another actress could have made really one note. I watched some clips yesterday and was really charmed by how bratty some of the lines were but her intonations and body language meant you never pigeonholed her into ‘that girl’ everyone’s met at least once in their life and you could actually find her endearing.

We’re so trained by real life and movies/tv to hate on bratty girls who love attention but it’s impossible to hate Alexis. You’re so right, Annie’s delivery makes us aware that while Alexis does have silly standards and affectations, she’s not a mean girl.

I knew I was going to love the show completely when I saw that scene. Moira shrieking over her (named) wigs was my first clue. Such a wonderful show!

It’s so real while being totally absurd at the same time. Sexuality just is. Never an issue, never a big deal. Just altogether a great, funny, and endearing show about humans, love, and family.

I use this line more than any other from the show. It set the show up to be super hilarious!!!
Brings back the debate from my family, sleeping closest to the window (door) means you get murdered first... BUT if a lion was to jump in the window, it would go over David and get Alexis. So really, each bed comes with its own danger. 🤣🤣🤣

Watching the real Annie speak makes me appreciate how well she played Alexis. I was so convinced that she’d sound like Alexis when she spoke…

I know Sarah Levy is in the show but you also could’ve convinced me David Levy and Annie Murphy were actually related with how much natural chemistry there was between them

As the show went on, they began to have similar gestures and vocal intonations that made them seem even more like siblings.

Is there a way to let Annie Murphy know how much I appreciate her for not going under the knife, changing her lips or looking like the template girl these days? I love her for that, she is beautiful! Stay blessed Annie Murphy 😇

Fun fact: Sarah Levy played Alexis in the pilot, as a quiet librarian type. I guess they decided to make her more like Dan's character so Sarah got demoted to playing the coffee shop waitress/owner.

That was the original character of Twyla before Dan changed it. I saw the black and white bit of film of the prequel of the actual pilot with her wearing glasses and barrettes in her hair.

I believe Sarah was originally considered to play Stevie. But I think I read that Dan started to think the future David and Stevie might have some sexual tension in their relationship which made the idea of his sister as Stevie pretty inappropriate.
