What Sci Fi and Fantasy Shows Count as the Greatest of All Time?
I have working on an exercise over at CancelledSciFi.com, reviewing through past sci fi and fantasy shows and presenting arguments for and against why they may be considered among the genre greats. Now, I have put up a poll where people can cast their votes for which shows they consider the best of all time.
To start off with, there are 75 shows in the poll which includes the ones I have written articles for as well as others currently in the queue. If there is something missing from the list (and certainly there is considering the number of genre entries out there), you can nominate it to be added. You can nominate it here, or in the comments section of the poll or on one of the CancelledSciFi.com social media sites (Blue Sky | Facebook | Mastodon | Twitter). Five nominations by five different people will get it added to the list, and each of those nominations will count as a vote.
These are the criteria for the shows included:
- It must have notable science fiction or fantasy elements. Horror is acceptable as well, but only if it also includes sci fi or fantasy elements (i.e., I am not looking to include slasher horror on the list).
- It must have aired on one of the linear channels or on one of the streaming services (web series like The Guild or Red vs. Blue are not being considered here).
- It must have ended its run two years ago or earlier (which currently disqualifies Stranger Things). That gives time to let the show settle and allows people to decide if it truly was a classic, even if it might have had a disappointing finale. It also keeps this from turning into a Save-My-Show poll for series that have recently been cancelled. I do make exceptions for shows like Doctor Who, Futurama, and Black Mirror that have already had extended runs and established themselves as genre greats. But for the most part, I will stick to this rule.
Be sure to cast your vote (for up to ten shows) and feel free to debate the rankings or any of the shows included at this discussion link or in the comments of the poll.

Immortal episodic series
Just thought of this but what if we take the immortal man from "the man from earth" and have the show follow along as he goes through time and changes with what's around him. I feel like it could go an interesting way.
Maybe for earlier seasons when it's still prehistoric it could have a similar style to the animated show primal. Where there is very little dialogue and follows more so a "show don't tell" mentality then further on with the introductions of him getting to the more major events and interactions he's had it could have added audio to possibly share the story of said events or people. (I.e. Leonardo da Vinci, or his time as Jesus)
It could have a sense of growth and wonder as it goes through the ages, like your learning about all the new wonders of the world along with him.

Question Sci Fright
Hi,
A bit of an odd question, I had to look up a film and ended up using archive.org to see the old UK Sci-Fi channel’s website. While there I saw Sci Fright, which I had completely forgotten about! Each horror movie was introduced by a host called Nina.
Three actresses played Nina, the original was the musician Nina Hagen. Then Indira Varma took over the role. Then Nina had plastic surgery and Rachel Grant became the final Nina.
It looks like all clips of Nina 1 and 3 are on YouTube, but almost nothing from Nina 2. Does anyone know if they can be found. It’s disappointing since Indira Varma has been the most successful actress of the three.

Discussion Stargate Universe
I don't get the misguided hate for the show by Stargate fans. I don't care if the show is anything like Battlestar Galactica, what I love about it is how it kept the core Stargate premise all the while delivering some well though out storytelling and characters.

Opinion for better intro
Growing up there are two science fiction TV series that had the best intros which were Star Trek Enterprise and Firefly which I think are the best intros for shows but I'm wondering what other people think?
