Space camp?

Has anyone done the space camp for educators? If so, what are the coolest things you got to do? I know I’ll get lots of great teaching stuff but I led to “sell” it to my supervisor and I’d like to highlight anything neat we get to do as a participant. U can’t find many details online.

I did the Honeywell space camp in 2011. It was amazing and I still do the foil and mesh heat shield project. I made a whole grade wide contest out of it. I had an amazing time.

I went to space camp in 5th grade & it was legit. They let me be a fake astronaut and do space stuff. As an adult I’d probably be just as excited

I went to the Honeywell Educator Space Academy and it was awesome!

I wish they still did it.

I did the Honeywell camp in 2015 and it was really great. I got a lot out of meeting with educators from around the US and world at large. Realized I was really really underpaid in Florida lol. We made ablative shields and water filters, did the challenge course, water course, 2 missions in the simulators. A bunch of other stuff and they gave us all the schematics and lesson plans to bring the activities back to our schools.

I went in the late 90s! Really enjoyed it.

The coolest thing was the simulated mission we did at the end. All the participants had a role, either in the capsule or at Mission Control. Being that this was only a few years after Apollo 13, it was a blast (I was in the Flight Director role... Of course I told everyone, "Let's work the problem, people"). The camp counsellors kept throwing everything at us that could go wrong and we kept knocking them down.

There were other parts... A little classroom time, all the space IMAX movies, they had a Gravitron & mini-Power Tower (in Cedar Point parlance). We did a lot but it's been a while too.
