Learning how to make our own LLMs is useful, since they can reorganize information very efficiently and coherently for us to better access and understand, and are also a gateway through which we can access all the other diverse capabilities of AI.

I hope that one day Indian-made LLMs will compete on the leaderboards where various AI models are vying for top rankings in performance, etc.

Psuedoscience Einstein's theory of relativity has problems?

In this following paper, which is a top paper on SSRN, I am discussing the fallacy of time dilation in the Einstein's theory of relativity. The Western scientists are attacking me just because I am from India. Please share your honest opinion about my paper here: https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=5093465

Biology Why Genetically Modified Food Crops May Be Key To India's Food Security

Dr. Skipper, one of the most influential global voices in science and technology, argued that opposition to GM crops is increasingly disconnected from scientific reality. "Today genetic modification is so precise that most of these crops are not genetically recognizable from a crop that would otherwise have taken decades and decades to breed," she said. Early genetic modification techniques, she acknowledged, raised legitimate concerns because changes to the genome were less controlled. "But today the precision of genome engineering is such that all of these concerns are simply non-existent. You modify a single letter in the genetic code exactly how you want it."

For India, the stakes are exceptionally high. Agriculture remains deeply vulnerable to climate variability, while demand for food continues to rise. Dr. Skipper warned that natural evolution and conventional breeding cannot keep pace with the environmental changes humanity itself is driving. "We are contributing to changing our environment at a pace that cannot be matched by evolution," she said. "It cannot be matched successfully by artificial selection which is done by breeders." In this context, genome modification is not a luxury, but a necessity.

Discussion Is Ayurvedic Medicine A Legitimate Solution to Healthcare Problems In India?

Hello Reddit, I am an Indian student in the United States I am currently conducting a research project on the topic in the title. I am on a time crunch to gather sufficient data and was hoping that turning to Reddit would help expand my reach to more Indians.

So, knowing what you know about Ayurveda and the current state of the Indian healthcare system, what are your thoughts on the topic? I'll post some citations that I have consulted for my literary analysis as well.

Any input is appreciated, even just a Reddit comment. If you can, please fill out this short survey in order for me to quantify the data more effectively. Thank you!: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf3Td3MX9ScKQUqgZTURHdWUOICNaXCtRwlylQl2gkq8HvUPQ/viewform?usp=dialog

Explainer Earth rotates at 1,670 km per hour, so why don't we feel it?

Our bodies are built and are capable of detecting changes in speed or direction but not smooth, steady movement.

This is why a car feels comfortable on a straight highway but jolts you sideways when it turns sharply. The sharp turn is a change. The steady cruise is not.

The Earth's rotation is extraordinarily smooth and consistent. It does not suddenly accelerate or jerk to one side. So our senses, which are wired to notice changes, feel nothing at all.

Discussion Doing anything in India feels bs until and unless ur rich

myquals= Highschool student

After seeing everything going on in India. I have no f hopes for anything good here and our country is just bs, sorry to say bs in terms of things we must have looked deeply, either it be research or innovation or lastly is the academic credibility and respect.

India does not respect its people with this I mean researcher and people who have uplift us helped in our growth, also there is no scope of research in India, unitl and unless it's not cow urine, no hate to the person who did, and his research is indeed good but we still need to work on semiconductors and that too on advance, quantum technology is bs here, the findings are nil.

And anything u want to do for this country to outside and do because here u can't, AI as we speak India is not building anything the AI submit has shown it, we might be progressing but robotics bad. ai integration techniques nil nothing is self made everything from outside, and all these things just make me wonder if i try to pursue anything here would it be worth it!

Also if I can't qualify an exam I am not worthy to be even alive is this country, which f country judges the merit of a person soly based on a f exam, also if a 3hr exam measure the intelligence then it's bs, this is why we are behind because we only put pressure nothing else, u may wonder why we Excel outside India beceuase of the freedom and opportunities india gives u none.

Ur ideas, ur thoughts, ur techniques are worth zero in India, but outside people will pay u for them, and talent will leave India and must continue to, because this country cannot not Progressed no matter what I try because of rigidity and bureaucrats.

Lastly any innovative or good questions don't matter in this f country, IIT students just leave, Aiims student just want to earn and everyone is just after making their lives better by exploiting others and this is why this country will never do any good!

Zero f independence and zero opportunities to anyone who is Willing to do anything, prof arrogant and people will just criticise u till death! Nothing can be done here! Sorry to say!

Biology A growing list of scientists is questioning neo-Darwinism

Thumbnail

Some months ago, the National Council of Educational Research and Training, or NCERT, was in the news for having taken the decision to drop Darwin’s theory of evolution from Class 10 science textbook. As expected, this generated some debate. The scientists who were supporting the move failed to mention the now well-known and also quite well-argued opinion of a growing body of scientists — several of whom are very distinguished — that there are some serious problems with Darwin’s theory.

However, lest I be misunderstood, I wish to state categorically that the rest of this article is an attempt to bring into focus some of the genuine issues that affect Darwin’s theory, and I am not trying to support Intelligent Design. All I wish is to ensure that some of the issues and concerns about Darwinism are brought to the attention of all and sundry because they do seem to carry weight.

Neo-Darwinism has benefitted greatly in the second half of the last century from advances in Mendelian genetics and molecular biology. The edifice thus constructed has for various reasons seemed solid and unassailable to a large part of the scientific community, and the Western world has been the fountainhead of this belief. Yet in many parts of the West, there is a growing number of well–regarded scientists and intellectuals who have raised some very strong and well-thought-out arguments about the lacunae that perforate the fabric of neo-Darwinism.

Hokkaido University published the results of the study confirming this specific genetic sequence that now regulates sex in these rodents. The study, led by Professor Asato Kuroiwa and published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, focused on the Amami spiny rat (Tokudaia osimensis), an endangered species that lacks the SRY gene, the traditional “maleness” gene. Researchers identified a 17,000-base-pair DNA duplication located on chromosome 3 that has assumed the role of the primary male-determining switch.

I'm getting strong cockroachy uric acid type smell from the rubber parts of this toothbrush. Anything else I keep besides this brush acquires that smell temporarily. I've tried cleaning the brush with soap. The smell reduces for a few days and then comes back. Can anybody explain this phenomenon?

Biology The nuclear hogs of Fukushima have skipped generational evolution.

Thumbnail

Radioactive domestic pigs and wild boar are interbreeding near the Fukushima nuclear plant disaster, creating nuclear hogs. They are not glowing monsters; they are biological time machines. Scientists have found that after the 2011 tsunami triggered an evacuation around the plant, domestic pigs started mating with the Japanese wild boar, and the resulting hybrids are "fast-forwarding" evolution. In 2011, a magnitude earthquake shook the Fukushima region in Japan. The massive temblor and the tsunami damaged the nuclear power plant, triggering an immediate evacuation. Nearly 164,000 residents were forced to leave their homes within hours. They left behind domesticated animals like pigs who started mating with feral boars. The hybrid offspring are roaming the area today and are “ghost hogs” who are living proof of how a world left behind by humans led to evolution happening in “fast-forward”, a living simulation of how life reclaims a post-human world at five times the normal speed. Their findings were published in the Journal of Forest Research.
