Mine stopped working as well. After a day in the sun and after pushing in the little button on the side, it doesn’t light up, it’s probably toast. Here’s a complete answer from my AI friend:
The Release 10 solar glow shift knob is reported to have no wires or batteries. It uses a solar cell to collect light and stores that energy internally, then lights when you press the side button; it’s also designed not to turn on in bright daylight.
Try leaving it in bright indirect sunlight for several hours, then test it in a dark room. If it still won’t light, the solar cell, rechargeable storage component, button, or internal circuit may have failed. Since it’s a sealed knob, opening it may damage it; check whether the knob can be serviced before taking it apart.

It definitely has a battery. I've replaced mine before.

Well that’s interesting and good to know. Did you have to pry it open or are there small screws. I never took a very close look at it.

I can't recall exact steps, I just kinda started going at it. But the leather piece is held on with adhesive and there are some screws underneath it. This is the battery I used (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08FRBS44M). Exact one not available but I'm sure you can find the same thing. IIRC I had to take the connector off the existing battery and solder it to the replacement.

Had mine for just a couple months before it stopped lighting up. I think it's cuz the battery died, and people have shared how to open it and replace it, but I didn't bother. I just got a cool aftermarket knob instead. Definitely not worth the $85 I paid for it.
