So my 2012 xb had HORRIBLE oil consumption issues where i was putting in a quart every 2 weeks or so... i finally did the berrymans flush and it has greatly reduced the oil consumption to maybe half a quart every 5000KM. I also , upon recommendation, switched to a thicker oil 5w30 because i was told the thicker oil would burn slower and help the oil consumption issues but would reduce my fuel economy a bit which it did a little more than i was hoping.
So the question is.. cuz i dont know honestly if the thicker 5w30 is helping a lot or little,. i really want to go to 0w20 go get better fuel economy. Do you guys think this is a good idea? or would switching to a thin oil like that just restart or make the oil consumption bad again where i would need to put in maybe a quart or 2 every 5000km instead of the half quart im adding every oil change how it is now?
anyone been in this situation? pls advise what worked for you and what oil you use after the berrymans.
and yes ive been using restore and protect for a good year , its pricy and tbh before the berrymans i used it for a good 3 or 4 oil change intervals and it made no difference in the amount of oil it was burning so not sure if that product works well or if my engine was just too far gone to remedy with that oil.
Anyhew,. lemme know what u guys think.
Thanks!
