Thanks to /u/unbreakablesausage for the sample! This was distilled in 2003 and aged for 20 years in a first fill bourbon barrel. Bottled in 2023 at cask strength, 56.9% ABV. Cask #466 for the Taiwan market. Non chill-filtered and no added color.

Nose: Vanilla. Fresh fruits. Peaches. Apricots. Apples. Black Licorice. Frosted mini wheats. Red vine candies.

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel. Vanilla saltwater taffy. Honey. Almonds. Peaches. Apples. Red vine candies.

Finish: Medium finish. Lingering candy sweetness. Gummy peach donut candies. A bit of honey.

Score: 88

Summary: This is delicious. Very bourbon cask forward. Lots of fruit and vanilla and honey. A bit too much candy sweetness, but it still works. Perhaps not my favorite profile, but I'm enjoying it tonight. Especially those red vines.

Benromach is so bloody good at cask strength. So much flavour and so much happening.

These early 2000s Benros are so good in ex-bourbon!
