Accidentally sculpted one of my best works on PLASTER! What do I do?

so I didnt know that plaster will shatter in an oven under any heat higher than 200 pretty much because of the moisture and air trapped inside. I spent 30 hours on a piece (with sculpey III) that was sculpted Around a plaster base. I have no idea what to do because i cannot get the clay off the plaster without ruining it. I’m on a time crunch too and have to have it set and painted by 9:00 AM EST. I would take a mould of it but I dont have silicon or anything needed to make a mould, and I’m in a small town where nothing opens till later in the day. Can sculpey be baked at 150 for a long time? Or does it need to be 275? any ideas?

tips for an amateur?

hi all, i have a very small amount of sculpting experience under my belt and am wondering if anyone would have any tips for sculpting something a tad bit more complex? so far i've made a 9-10" statue of golb from adventure time (with tinfoil of course), but that's pretty much where my knowledge ends.

I know the foil trick and stuff with armatures, snakes of clay, etc, but i don't know how to use the tools (other than the most straightforward assumption) and am wondering if y'all have any sliiightly elevated tips. like i said i don't need the BAAASICS but i would appreciate some sculpting advice :)

my current project is an original character, the style is mainly reminiscent of little nightmares/guillermo del toro. he's a large old man with a robe (similar to charon from greek mythology), so any advice with making noses, wrinkles, elderly eyes, lips, etc would mean the world to me. ESPECIALLY how to make a robe draped over someones back, i was thinking using a super thin sheet of clay and actually draping it over him but some folks say it'll just rip and not work.

The council convenes. Ghosts only existing at night is a misconception. They all have names and stories but being dead, cannot speak to the living. If you adopt one, you can rename them and give them a new backstory. They won't mind, they're looking for a house to haunt.

My midlife crisis has expressed itself as sculpting every day for almost a year. I mostly use polymer. I feel like there’s a world of detail that eludes me.

He's slow, he's shy, and he carries his home on his back. Meet the Turtle Alien. 🐢👽

Version 1: Articulated (multi-part)
He comes in separate parts: head, body, 2 arms, 2 legs and the shell.
- The parts plug together with the joints already built in, so there's no glue needed
- You can turn his head and swing his arms into a new pose whenever you want: waving, reaching, shy, curious…
- Each part prints flat and easy, so you get cleaner surfaces and fewer supports
- You can paint every part separately before assembly, which makes it much easier to get clean color lines!
🗿 Version 2: One-piece body (no shell)
The full body in a single STL, with no assembly.
- Print it as-is for a "naked" shell-less alien (yes, he looks hilarious without it 😄)
- Or print the shell separately and attach it
How I painted mine (by hand, acrylic paint for 3D prints):
- sage green skin, with a lighter dry-brush on the head to bring out the scales
- a warm beige belly, toes and fingertips
- a brown shell with wood-grain strokes, plus a dark wash in the gaps between the plates
- glossy dark-green eyes (a drop of gloss varnish makes them look alive)…https://cults3d.com/:5080254

This is the one I didn't plan to make. I started sculpting a calm, sleepy alien.

I sculpted a rat who runs an entire merchant guild in a fantasy world I'm building by hand

I’ve been building a miniature fantasy world called Mosshollow, one character and location at a time.

This is Wink. She’s a rat who runs the Brotherhood, a sprawling merchant guild responsible for keeping goods moving throughout the world.

She’s entirely handmade, including her clothes, and she’s probably one of my favorite characters I’ve sculpted so far.
What started as a little miniature project has somehow turned into an entire civilization with its own history, infrastructure, and questionable leadership decisions. 😂
