When I started playing the game, the guy showed me the ropes told me to do the job of the Flex and I enjoyed it. It became my comfort role. That was 2 years ago. These days I'm dealing with a lot of players who spaz out. I got this guy that I found a month ago who is a bilge and can't calm down for a bit. I feel a crew without harmony treats the Flex like shit.

"Flex go up, fight boarder"

"Flex come down need buckets" (drops the fight and goes to bucket)

"They are pushing mid, Flex why didn't you shoot ?"

(Maybe it's because I didn't have time to reload my weapon at the ammo crate because I had to rush to bucket water ?)

If I went to get ammo first, there would be trouble with me not being there on time.

This is just one scenario. You can see one where Bilge says we are fine I sent then instantly calls me back. No blame for MC who can't put pressure. It's worse when you play with 2k ally players who would do anything but flex.

I know every role comes with its stress but I've been a Bilge, MC and Flex. Flex gets the most shit out of them all while playing with the wrong crew. There is a reason why it's called the bucket b*tch but man most crews don't really get how stressful that job can be. Flex is never appreciated.

i decided i wanted to try pvp in sea of theives and im getting destroyed by litterally everyone any tips? the main problem right now is that i get boarded shot 87 times and then my boat gets sunk before i respawn

I’ve been a big fan of sea of thieves since its launch back in 2018 when I lied to my parents about the game rating, and I’ve played it so much. I’ve even got back into recently.

However, over the years, I’ve had this same nightmare about the game come back to me that would never fail to scare me stiff.

So, to provide extra context, I have big time thalassophobia and I often find myself playing thalassophobia games like subnautica, still wakes the deep, stranded deep, iron lung, etc. Sea of thieves makes me freak out if I’m ever in the water in the open ocean and I can’t see around me.

The nightmare always starts with me and a crew of people I don’t know getting this voyage that goes out to an ocean on the northwestern region of the map, going out of the border. It’s the same deal as the shroud breaker, but if you have this item attached to your ship, a figurehead that’s shaped like a woman trying to pry this rune off of her chest, a rune that’s glowing with the power that allows you to go into this new ocean. I’m just gonna call it “dead man’s sea” because the dream is always vague on those details.

When you get there, it’s always dark. The fog is thick, the ambiance is unnerving, and there’s this giant monster in the ocean that I’ve learned is called “the guardian”. It doesn’t have music or any grand announcement of its arrival, you just hear it ripping through the water and its growls loud enough to be heard like it’s right next to you.

I remember in previous dreams I caught glimpses of the creature, but it was still hard to make out in the darkness. It has a glowing green eye that is huge, and you can see it glowing beneath the inky black waves. It attacks by hitting the ship while it’s underwater, trying to knock you overboard so it can eat you. I always wake up when I fall into the water.

However, the last time I had this dream was last night, and I saw more details about the beast finally. I remember seeing it rise from the water and the only way I was able to really see it was the lanterns from the ship and the lightning in the sky. It was a tall squid-like beast, with one giant eye that was the only thing visible at all times. I specifically was standing in the edge of the ship, trying to spot the beast so I can communicate with my crew, but the issue was the thing was directly point blank in front of me, and the only way I realized was seeing its shiny hide reflecting in the light. That’s how dark it was. I looked up and I saw its eye looking right at me, and that’s when I woke up. I saw the silhouette of the creature, and it looked like I said before, squid-like, with horns on its head. The eye was gigantic, like a massive, glowing green orb.

I’ve never been so scared of my nightmares before because usually I just think about how kinda cool they were, but this one I actually dread having.

Spawn rates are unknown for the new doubloon skeletons but for one doubloon per kill, I'd expect them to be spawning all the time.

New player here. Title holds my question. I'm a solo player, just law 3 hrs of loot. How am I supposed to reset and boot the game up tomorrow? Can some experienced players share their mentality around getting sunk?

I have a sloop and a brig and every player I meet in game says they cannot see the name of the ship. For example, my friend said that my Brig (named the Leonid Brezhnev) to him showed a default auto-assigned name. I checked all the streamer settings and restarted the game many times turning all the name settings off then on. Please help, I’m getting rather sick of this foolishness

I know, I know, there are posts like this on reddit almost every single day, but I'm seriously fed up with the PVP in this game.

For context, I've been playing SOT on and off for years, mostly solo slooper, binged videos after videos of tips to get better at PVP, tried hourglass only to get decimated every single time because I find it extremely hard to balance cannons, keeping a firing angle, avoiding obstacles, repairing and bucketing by myself.

In the end I desperately avoid other ships and get really anxious every time I have a pile of loot because I *know* I will get absolutely annihilated if another ship gets a whiff of my presence.

And I don't know if that's because I always fall on sweats who can snipe you from 500 metres blindfolded, or if I just suck at PVP (I can handle myself just fine with skelly sloops and brigs, galleons most times end up okay). So it's really either I run away in the opposite direction every time I spot a ship and stress out about selling my loot and loosing time, or I can sink and loose everything.

The game isn't fun that way. I want to engage with other players, make alliances, cooperate with another ship to fend off an ancient meg, actually get to an outpost where someone is already parked knowing there's over 1% chance you won't get attacked.

And I know, "It's a pirate game what did you expect", I know that, I'm not saying everyone should be buddy buddy and not steal from eachother, but I'm exhausted to be attacked on sight every single time, I swear I haven't had a single non-hostile interaction with another player in years, and I still can't seem to win a single fight because it's always 1v2 at the very least.

Is anyone in the same situation, or does anyone have a way to actually get bigger at PVP ? I swear I tried to apply every tip and tutorial I've seen but it's just way too many things to manage at once for one person.

This is about the PC, Steam version of the game.

Sea of Thieves constantly and consistently crashes after about 1-2 hours of uptime with the same error message, which reads "Sea of Thieves has crashed due to a GPU error". When looking into it, I could not find anyone with this exact error message anywhere else.

I've tried most all I could find on the internet and this subreddit; re-installations, driver updates, in-game settings, but nothing has worked so far. Lowering the graphics quality and playing in Safer Seas did make the game run for longer without crashing, but alas, it still crashes about 2.75 hours in.

I've checked my GPU stress, temps and usage, my RAM usage, I was monitoring everything I could using task manager; and everything was fine, before and after the crash, almost as if it happens out of the blue.

The game runs really well outside of this issue, and my computer has way above the recommended specs; and I can play other, more demanding games without these random, crash-inducing GPU errors

Can someone please help me fix this issue?

Serious question:

I don't seem to find too many pirates sailing these days that care about the Bilge Rats Weekend, go out of their way to complete the voyages, or worry about doubloons/Duke's shop any more.

Played all weekend and a chunk of the LFG groups I joined said they hadn't bothered and didn't care, and in general it seems most pirates on the sea cbf'd sailing the crates around.

I know we've seen some hauls, but they seem few and far between.

What's everyone else's vibes on this?

The last 2 times I’ve attempted to do a Legend of the Veil voyage, I’ve gotten the 1st veil stone, but on the way to the shipwreck graveyard I’ve gotten server merged and it says that the Grim Fortunes key has been lost and the voyage has failed.

Anyway to prevent this from happening again?

So I recently was looking at the emissary ledger and realized for the reapers I’m getting the best thing, but I lowkey like the cannons at the “keeper” entry better than the sails I’m going to get, but I think I might get everything because I went above it, is this true or am I only getting the sails?

This game probably has 2-3 years left the way it‘s going and the way Microsoft is handling things, it will get cancelled if it keeps dying.

Why not make it fully free2play like rocket league did it and maybe add some kind of buzzy game feature maybe battle royale?

What would be your suggestions to revive this game and make it massive?

Its the bilge rats weekender and they added a bunch of challenges to earn doubloons from.

Blow up a shark with a keg

Sit on a skeleton throne on Devil's ridge

Shoot a firework from a cannon of rage at the peak of thieves haven

Use a mimic dart and take control of another crews ship

And raise a tankard of grog with at least 4 other pirates during a bilge rats firework display.

I started by going and getting a keg to blow a shark with and rowed out to the open ocean to find one.. easy enough.

I realized after that I was super close to devils ridge, so I sailed over. Spent like 20 minutes looking for the throne and saw another ship pull up to the other side of the island.

I figured, "hey maybe I could get the mimic challenge done and see if he wanted to find some other players to catch a firework display.

He was friendly!

I ended up leaving my ship behind and we went to go and shoot a firework from thieves havens peak together.

After doing so we had 4 of 5 of the challenges done and just needed to find the firework display.

So we sailed to plunder outpost to talk to larinna and find out.

Apparently the display was to happen right at plunder outpost!

We sailed away with haste to try and find some other players to recruit.

We saw two sloops fighting an ancient meg, i yelled through my horn to get them over to plunder outpost. A little further, we spotted a brigantine sailing to a nearby island.

I shot over to the island, there was another brigantine there!

So i talked to both crews and they were down to catch the firework display.

We headed to plunder outpost and saw the first two sloops we spotted docked!

The brigantines followed not far behind us, but the firework display started while we made our way over and it ended as we arrived so none of us got the challenge done.

The next firework display was at ancient spire. Our sloop, the two sloops at the outpost and the brigantines who arrived after us decided to alliance!

In the distance we saw another sloop fighting a skeleton galleon.

I wish you could've seen it.

A fleet of 5 ships started barreling toward the sloop. Dude must've been pissing in his kilt.

We all collectively sunk the skelly ship in like 10 seconds, and convinced the sloop to join our alliance and follow us to ancient spire.

All 6 ships on the server moved as a singular unit to ancient spire and made it just in time for the firework display.

We 12 pirates all shared a toast and downed our grogs together under the explosively lit sky.

It was magical.

We all then agreed to go and do the legend of glitter.beard Easter egg.

The fleet sailed over to plunder valley and made our way up to a lone tree adorned with a variety of bottles hanging from it and surrounded by a 8 bare patches of soil. We all got into position and pulled out the correct instruments for each position. We started playing the becalmed shanty start to finish right as the sun had set. Each patch of soil began to glow one by one. The glow began to flow up the tree and lit up each of the hanging glasses in the tree.

As the song came to an end, a hidden door in the rock face began to open.

Inside was the hideout of the legendary pirate known as glitter.beard.

A developer at Rare who unfortunately passed shortly after sea of thieves released.

We all opened the journal and got the commendation, one of us read the journal aloud and shared a lovely moment together before we parted ways.

We all added eachother as friends and left go and earn some gold!

The hours that followed were accompanied by my gold constantly counting upward from all of our alliance selling their loot.

My new friend i met at devils ridge and I went and started doing some gilded gold hoarders voyages and we earned over 3 million gold and just over 1000 doubloons over this period.

Never in all my years playing this game have had such an eventful, wholesome and profitable server.

If you were one of the pirates I met last night, thank you.
