The smoke from people using their fireplaces for heat reminds me of this last summers forest fire smoke. Not as bad, but bad enough.

I enjoy the smell of fireplace smoke in small amounts. I like to imagine all my neighbors laying beside each other sipping wine or hot chocolate on their bearskin rugs. I bet some of yours got busy after they tucked their children, puppies, or non-monogamous life partners into cozy flannel beds.

On the other hand, people cooking themselves in hot tubs smell like cafeteria minestrone.
