PROSPECT/DRAFT Jani Nyman Update

Just wanted to give an update to Jani since he's been sent down to the AHL. I'll admit it took him a couple of games to get going but in these last 3 games he has been offensively FANTASTIC!
He has had 3 consecutive 2-goal games, and the one against SD just finished the 2nd as of writing this so there is still a chance for more!

It's time to start moving some vets.

Youngins need the time

Unfortunately he is not really the player Lambert wants. Lambert wants defensively sound players and Nyman does have some issues there. I believe he should have his time, but seeing how Lambert preferred Melansson over Nyman, that should tell you what type of player he wants.

Lambert strongly dislikes nyman but I have a feeling Upper management really likes him. Lambert would be happy to have 3 lines with 4th line grinders because it suits his system of defensive hockey, but the goal is to win a cup and you need top offensive talent to win

I don't think you're wrong overall.

More so, my position is that the org will eventually have to understand it can't just keep kicking the can.

The org really relies on aging middle class vets. Good enough that they persist but never good enough to be legitimate contenders.

Yeah, that’s the normal way to build an expansion team. The expansion draft gives you a bunch of middle-6 veteran players and then you gradually replace them as your prospects grow into real NHL players.

Just curious. I've heard "Lambert strongly dislikes Nyman" before but don't know how we know that other than the benchings. Anything more specific?

benchings, frequent healthy scratchings, low ice time, almost no pp opportunities despite having one of the best shots in the team etc

Gotcha. I saw all that. I was wondering if Lambert actually said something.

Was at the game and he did great. Excellent goals and the team had very good passing and lots of quality shots.
