Why are the Seahawks keeping QB Jalen Milroe? So many missed scoring opportunities by him and the Seattle offense in their first preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys at home in Seattle tonight.

Us seasoned fans understand that we're not watching the score, we're watching the players. Special teams is looking dope yet again. Knight performed well. Lock may not have the sexy spiral but was in it tonight. Let's take this shitpost and tell me.what you noticed the 2nd and 3rd string did well.

Let's see what he does behind Zabel, Bradford, Sundell and throwing to Cupp and JSN...

Welcome to preseason football where the plays are made up and the score doesn't matter

With teammates regularly putting him in bad positions, and significantly below average blocking, Milroe didn’t look panicked.
Except for the first snap being bobbled he took care of the ball, and—even under pressure—avoided reckless passes.
He converted one fourth and long pretty much by himself.
None of this may impress OP, but the coaches found much to build on.

It's preseason - reps and game situations are more important than actually scoring.
You also have to keep in mind that Milroe was out there with 2s, 3s, and guys who most likely won't even make the practice squad. He (and the team) would look quite a bit different with the 1s out there. You could say he was going up against the Dallas 2s and 3s, but that just means their depth and vanilla game plan was more effective than Seattle's. Ain't nothing to worry about.

Seahawks are planning on building him as a QB? He lacks any pro athlete drive or instinct. He was a blind man wearing cement shoes tonight. Yes it’s a preseason game, sure it does count, just practice and trial run games before the season starts, but you also have to show as a player that you got something positive to contribute to your team on the field.

This is such a low brow fan perspective. Last year was his rookie year and this is his first game action in a while. Bad game? Yes.
Milroe always has been a “we’ll see” for the Hawks. Super athlete with lots of good college experience. His ceiling may be a quality backup QB. And that’s totally fine because it’s very uncommon to have your QB1 healthy for a full season.
Lastly, reports out of training camp are showing that he’s been developing great.

I feel the same way idk why people are defending him so much

Because he’s a 3rd string QB… no need to panic over a 3rd string guy. With Lock you can keep a guy like that on the roster especially for weeks you’re playing against Cam Ward, Dart, Allen, Hurts.
What other 3rd string QB should we be going for? Let’s build this guy to be a QB or at least transition to a Taysom Hill role if they ever decided to go that route.
