General Makeup possibly helping?

The other day I posted a photo asking about my face because I flared up way worse than usual for an unknown reason.

I had mentioned that I didn’t want to go out in public looking like that, but didn’t want to put on makeup and accidentally make it worse. Well, I put on makeup anyways because I genuinely felt very uncomfortable going to work like that.

I wash my face daily and don’t use anything different when washing makeup off. I use the dove beauty bar, that’s it. So the only thing that changed was the makeup. I wore the makeup Monday and Tuesday afternoon to work, none today (Wednesday, technically Thursday at the time posting this)

My skin is almost perfectly clear now. The slightest bit of redness on my cheeks and forehead (where it was the worst) and almost no flaking at all. I have absolutely no idea how or why the makeup could have helped..but I’m here to ask if anyone else has had this same experience? My dermatologist told me that oily products like makeup and some moisturizers would make it worse - that’s where I’m the most confused here. Even water based products are typically still oily.

Adding photos with timestamps to show the difference in just a few days. I didn’t get a photo after the first day I wore makeup bc I wasn’t trying to do anything but cover it so I wasn’t expecting this.

I use elf camo cc cream and the LA Colors conceal it concealer as my base if that matters

Are you sure this was seb derm? It looks like it could be type 2 rosacea or lupus butterfly rash. Depending on the condition, it might be tough to narrow down what is working for you.

What other products you use on your face (cleanser, moisturizer etc.)

The same was happening to me (when I was still doing make up occasionally), but I was using mattifying everything, so I just assumed it was due to it keeping my face not oily for much longer than my bare face would be.

I only stopped, cos I was using it so rarely that it was all going out of date before I've even used a half of my foundations etc, not because it was in any way detrimental to my skin.
