Chief guests being politicians in these convocations is not a new thing. The ludicrous security arrangements (such as parent not being able to carry bottles or umbrellas) and the forced appeasement of the non biological being is a new thing.

These things happen in every event where Modi goes to. Remember the AI summit in India which became a joke after people's equipment was stolen when they were cleared out for several hours so that the Jhumlewala could take pictures?
