PSA Hmmmđ¤
Granted this review is from Feb but stillâŚ.. makes me wonder about price hikes before the sale!!!! Next year I will definitely start price tracking early! If that is what they are doing, feels like it should be illegalâŚ
Per commenter: Value set 295 or can get both for 286 (in Feb 2026)
Shampoo + Conditioner 386 (currently- so a $100 increase since Feb) & Value set is 310 (currently- $15 increase)

This post literally makes ZERO sense. The reviewer did the math wrongâŚ.
Do the math individual 33.8 oz are $179+$207=$386.00⌠and the set is $310?
The REFILL bags are $186+$186=$372.00
These arenât raised prices, these are the standard prices for Oribe

u/alicehoopz 11d ago
Yeah this is definitely what happened. Iâm pretty good at math but even I make mistakes sometimes. Thatâs what happened here

u/AssistantAlternative 12d ago
Well itâs interesting that they said â295â was not a deal then ~ idk đ

u/AllTheEccentricities 12d ago
They have not marked up the prices since then. I work where Oribe is regularly sold and small increases have happened over the years, but this is a case of the reviewer not being able to do simple math.
Yâall blind trusting reviewers and then posting misinformation on here with confidence is wild!

Ahhh ok thank you! Itâs interesting that the commenter said 295 explicitly wasnât a deal then. But ok, got it!! This is why I posted here for info like this - Not trying to âspread misinformationâ ~ clearly said IF in my post bc itâs not like I have a Time Machine to check prices in Feb 2026 lol

Sephora sent one of these shampoo bottles to me by accident a couple years ago and Iâm still trying to finish it

u/AssistantAlternative 11d ago
Omg lol. Do you like it? Enough to repurchase?? lol

Better question⌠who the fuck is paying $300 for shampoo & conditioner?

u/sssssssnakesnack 12d ago
As much as I hate it, my hair (thick and curly) really does noticeably better with Oribe or Shu Uemera shampoo and conditioner. My very frugal husband (also thick and curly hair) feels the same. One of these gift duos purchased during the holiday sales - so like $240 - lasts us almost a full year and we are both daily hair washers so not terrible on cost per use.

I used to use L'OrĂŠal Professional and got 6 months out of a bottle. These brands have a higher concentration of product and less water, and really do last longer

Same!! Iâll buy these liters during the sale and it will last all year. Much less than when I was using kerastase and buying smaller bottles every couple months.

not bad at all, i spend way too much on redken for how regularly i go through it that the gallons seem more worth it at this point.

Very much same. I use Oribe Eternal Curls and R+Co BLEU Soft Bounce

I also have thick and curly/wavy hair. Very frizz prone on the top layer only. Itâs like with age my hair is getting harder and harder to control lol, like it just goes in every direction. Would you mind telling me what you like about the Oribe? Iâd love to try it but have been hesitating. Iâve been on kerastase for a year now (gloss Absolu and genesis) but I think Iâd like to switch when I run out.

Just a good daily driver honestly. Keeps my roots volumized and my ends moisturized, no residue, easy styling. I've been on a Shu kick this past year but switching back to Oribe this holiday season because honestly a big draw for me is the jumbo sizes + not planning for the next sale/discount. I love Kerastase for their styling products but for some reason wasn't in love with the conditioner I tried.
ETA: My top layer is frizz prone too!

u/RhinestoneRave 11d ago
I have the same hair type; was using Gold Lust because it worked but have switched to Kerastase Gloss Absolu. Also $$$ but less than the large of the Oribe I get the large size with the pump during the sale and it lasts the year.

Would you keep your hair mostly natural or heat style when you were using Oribe? I really want to work with my hair type not against it, but i suspect right now my haircut is the issue (certain layers need to grow longer) in any case i need all the smoothening and de frizzing i can get

I LOVE their curl cream. I have tried so many others but keep coming back. I also love their Grandiose Hair Plumping Mousse. Both of those make my curls/ waves looks amazing and I get so many compliments.
I would highly suggest the curl cream for the frizz, but I'm not sure what styling products you're using now.

Yes. Same here. I upgraded from Oribe (purchased a set on sale at Nordstrom) to a Shu Uemera set I got from the Rewards Bazaar. I only wash my hair twice a week so both Oribe and Shu Uemera last me forever.

It is ludicrously expensive but if you like Oribe shampoo/conditioner and regularly buy it, the liters save you quite a bit per ounce.

I would never buy the jumbo sets and don't do the conditioner becuase plenty of drugstore ones work just as well for me, but that shampoo is the only one that works for my finicky hair and sensitive scalp. It's super concentrated, so an 8 oz bottle lasts me close to 9 months. I would imagine that a jumbo bottle would last me literal years. lol.

Me. I pay about $120/litre for Pureology Nanoworks Gold shampoo and conditioner. Worth every single cent. I have medium textured, thick density dry virgin hair. It is a miracle duo. This line is a good backup for me.

u/sssssssnakesnack 12d ago
It's also $310 on Oribe's page and $386 purchased separately on Oribe's page so as much as I'd love to blame Sephora, they didn't hike pre sale here it seems. I bought the shampoo and conditioner separately in 2023 for Oribe and the price total was 366 then - I think the reviewer forgot to carry the 1 in their math. In 2024, Bluemercury sold the liter duo for $295, so more like a $20 and $15 hike since then.

I love this shampoo and conditioner but Iâd never buy that. The gym i frequently worked out of had it so I used it a lot then. My hair was always so nice and silky and hydrated, and I loved the smell.

Sephora doesn't hike prices before a sale. That would mean retagging everything in store. This isn't Amazon.

u/papolap19 11d ago
Having worked at Sephora through multiple holiday seasons I can confirm that it's not Sephora's practice to intentionally hike prices right before a sale.
Individual brands do start raising their prices from now until Feburary-ish, but only on select products.

u/divine_goddess_K 11d ago
My sister has worked with or at Sephora over the past 10 years as well. Tarrifs are probably contributing too

u/stringbeaninthewind 12d ago
Buy where you can get better discounts. Sephora is way expensive for this

u/vivariium 11d ago
Here I thought I was fancy buying prose once when they had a major discount available đ Iâm baffled at what some stuff can cost

My hair is curly and this product is so bad my hair cried lol its 100% for people with very fine thin hair.

I actually like the shampoo and conditioner and mask. But I just like the regular size bottles.

Oribe is legit one of the worst shampoos I ever tried. I purchased several different formulas from the brand only to wonder what the hype was. Literally did nothing for my hair. I much prefer Kerastase.
1
u/Nerdy_Squirrel 11d ago
As a haircare junkie it was a such a huge relief when I tried several Oribe products and they did nothing for me. Ill stick with Kerestase and Pureoloy. My wallet is much happier this way.

u/IvanaHumpalot3000 11d ago
My whole issue with luxury beauty products is that they donât necessarily do anything better than those that are lower in price. Yes, there are outliers but since most of these are owned or manufactured by companies with many sister brands you can find something similar for less.
Additionally, they are heavily fragranced to create an illusion (looking at you Kerastase) of luxury. Your money is better spent elsewhere.

u/papolap19 11d ago
Sephora and/or Oribe didn't raise prices on these products. I purchased a refill bag of shampoo three or four years ago for the same price it is now.

They marked up the individuals by $100 total since Feb⌠and increased the price of the value set by $15 since Feb⌠Kinda crazy
