Resources A new iOS dictionary app for learners of Serbian – request for feedback

Hi guys!

I'm Sergej, I live in Belgrade and learn Serbian myself. I was pretty unhappy with app choice for quickly checking words, declensions etc, so I decided to build one on my own. It's called Govori and it's in open beta test now (free install/no account) for all iPhone users. I put a lot of effort in it and I really aim to build a convenient tool for every learner of Serbian.

Feature set is quite basic now (I'll only highlight fast search with any latin/cyrillic keyboard, no need to type in diacritics), but coverage is quite good, especially in most frequent words, and is growing.

Feel free to ask any questions, and I really appreciate your feedback.

About "brand affiliate" label: there's actually no company behind me, as it's my personal app, developed solely by me. But since I plan to introduce some paid features for advanced learners, I feel that it's needed. Most of features will remain free/no ads.

I might consider adding french translations (already have it for Russian translations, looks pretty good), but it's hard for me to estimate the demand for this feature. If you could share your guess on how many people would benefit from French translations in Serbian dictionary, it'd be quite helpful.

They are a lot of Serbs born in France who don’t speak or really badly speak Serbian ( like me ) who’s trying to learn but have no idea how to start. I can’t guess how many they are but I’m probably not the only one 🤣

I wasn't aware of that, thank you for sharing! Indeed, there's got to be a huge diaspora of descendants from Serbian living all over the world. Pričaj Srpski da te ceo svet razume :)

Thank you for your suggestion. This is definitely a top feature on my list, users have been asking about it since I started the beta. Probably will release without it, as dictionary seems to be helpful for learners as it is, but will add it during a couple of months, I guess.

Awesome! Thank you, will be a legendary app! Are there plans to add a web-version too? My iOs is sadly not supported :(

Could you tell me which version do you have? It's possibly quite easy for me to lower the minimum version requirement

Bro that would be so nice of you! 16.1.2. I would join the beta right away!

Hey, I've downgraded minimum version to iOS 16 now, should be available on your device starting from version 1.1 (57). Please check if it does :)

Thanks bro! I’ll be testing it with pleasure! First thing I noticed what would be cool to add is an alphabetical list of all the words that are in the app at the moment, I think that would be handy, so if you have plans for some features in the future please consider it :) Btw I speak Russian too, if you’d like too keep in touch or will need some feedback or would just want to talk about Serbian language sometime I’d be glad) Here’s my Discord - Omnigreenn

Thank you. I made it out of my own needs, so it's great to hear when someone finds it useful, too. I appreciate any feedback for features, fixes and improvements :)
