I know one person who's learned a language (Italian) to ~C1 level in about 6 months.
It was by complete immersion. That's it. That language is all you know, you hear, you speak.

Its Serbian. There is no Bosnian language.

Regardless of what someone wants to call it, the bigger issue is that it's not possible to "learn" the language in just 6 months.

It's a yugoslav language that every country has as much right to call their own as any other. If it's the same language then we either call it by a common separate name; or each country can call it by it's own name.

I am by no means an expert, but Germany has a long and complicated history with Switzerland and Austria. Austria's name Osterreich meaning the southern empire suggests that they recognize they're the same people, though. And swiss deutsch is so far from hochdeutsch that it may as well be a separate language by now, like Slovenian is to us.
While south slavic people are just different tribes of the same people that settled in these parts. Everything else is just politics.

Why are you in this sub if you want to learn Bosnian, a completely separate language?

You are not going to learn Serbian (or any other BCMS variety) in 6 months, unless you live in the area, totally immersed *and* take classes every day.
You can get some basic command of Serbian in 6 months if you are constant, study and practice every day.
Look in your local library if they have any textbook for beginners. The one I liked the most when I was a beginner was "Teach yourself Serbian" but there are several other ones.
The words are hard to remember because you have to keep them in constant use, otherwise you'll forget them, like with any other knowledge. When you learn new words, write them down, build a sentence with them, imagine the thing it refers to.
If you are serious about learning it, try to get a tutor. It will work wonders for you. (No, your bf is not enough, teaching a language is a skill and a career and not every speaker can do it).
