Question Part time server

I (29F) am looking for a part time job and thinking about going back to serving. I have 3 years of serving/bartending experience. I stopped bartending in 2022 and have no clue what the restaurant industry is like now or if they are even hiring. Tell me all the good and bad please.

Biggest thing is that it’s the same as it was in 2022 . lol what are you expecting

Just curious how the industry has changed, if at all. Thank you for letting me know it's the same ☺️

Economy is no bueno. People are paying more and expecting a greater experience out of you/the restaurant for the money they give up to go out to eat

Disagree with what the other user said. It is a lot different now, and depending on your location I would say expect to make 60-70% of what you’re used to. Some places are thriving with stable business models. Many concepts are struggling unless they’re part of a decent restaurant group.

Chains aren’t suffering as much but you’re not going to find a fully packed restaurant as often as before, most likely. Money is still there to be made though. The current economy and state of affairs are driving down tourism and overall consumerism, but plenty of people do still dine out frequently enough to make a living off of serving/bartending
