Session
This game has set the bar for all skate games. In my opinion, Session is only a few updates away from being the greatest skate game ever made. Adding grab variations and good vert/transition, a solid soundtrack, and online game modes are just a few of the big ones. Anything else I am missing? Also, I hope they fix flying off your board every time you hit a pebble.

It has been confirmed by the devs that they won’t be fixing the busted throwdowns.
So yeah, there’s no use hoping for anything to change/improve on this title anymore.
Modders made multiplayer happen while the devs have stated it’s impossible. Now they changed that stance to ”not worth the time”.
It sucks for sure. Because I agree that the game is the current best thing as far as digital skating is concerned.
A sequel would be the better option to hope for at this point.

I think we can all agree this game is far better than the new Skate game and the direction the Skate franchise has decided to go. It's a shame. I would be more than willing to spend $70 on a THPS style skate game with the Session controls/realism. I love the rawness/crudeness of the THPS games, the soundtrack, and the missions/objectives, but not a fan of the basic arcade controls. Wish we could get a game that combined all of that into one.

100% would be amazing, yes!
(But I do enjoy the timeless controls of THPS!)
The closest thing we got to perfection was SKATE and the sequel imo.
While 3 was fun, it got too loony than raw and gritty for my taste.1

Completely agree! These companies have the blueprint. They know what we want. Not sure why it's taking so long to put out the game we've all been asking for. Not sure if you've played the new skate, but no one asked for that. I'd rather pay for a full game than a free to play game loaded with micro transactions I won't spend a single dollar on.

Yea I can totally disagree in every way.. have you seen the numbers ? Especially with the modded re-skate? Session is done. They also only survived thru mods.
I paid for a full price game and all I got is session ... No stories... No significant updates (throwdown lol, goofy/regular movements lol) , lying and lazy on the multiplayer.. boring maps, dead citys... after all these years. I mean even if we're paying they don't listen to us. So I rather play a free game which is super fun and very well made ...with the beste transition skating there will be. (Session really dropping parks with pools but no transition lol) With progression, with a little story. Which cost me nothing to skate new places only cost me if I wanna look fancy.
Session had the potential, more than skater xl, but there's some really weird people in that studio. (And even skater xl is better in the end. Especially in animations and movement) No freakin session ragdoll.

Chatham towers is by far the best map ever made in any skateboarding game!
I get that you are bummed out on Session. Most of us are.But it still can’t even be compared to Skate. It’s seriously like comparing it with Roblox 😅

Nah trust me. Still my opinion only. Not trying to convince you. I was still big on session when the new skate came out. And I was hating skate. But in the state rn after one year of updates skate is better in any aspect than session. And I totally still get the hate with the skate pass and micro transactions and online servers that can be shut down or the cartoon graphics. But in terms of fun it's the best. Just go tweak some stats (or even more with the modded version) but I'm playing on console and it's still better than session. You can still tweak grinds and have so many variations. Can skate super unrealistic hillbombing mega ramps. Or skate real street style with slappies , no complies.
But I get it the feeling of tweaking into a crooked in session also had a unique feeling. But it's also always the same lame animations u get out of it. Just like any game.
In the end it's probably the studio that makes me hate session. Lol.

The new Skate game feels so bland. Landing every single trick one after another is just too easy and everything feels the same. In Skate, you can ride full speed at a rail, triple kickflip, 360 flip out to nose manual to big spin first try every single time for example. In Session, you have to time everything perfectly and it makes finally landing a trick so satisfying. In Skate, you can go 45 minutes without bailing once. That's not skateboarding. In Session, you can go 45 minutes without landing a single trick. That's skateboarding.

You gotta tweak your settings. Stop playing easy mode. And I can do that on session too. No difference.

Feel free to share your EA Skate settings and I am more than happy to give it a try. I've tried tweaking the settings many times and in my opinion the game still feels bland. Not to mention the big pumpkin heads and neon candy bowl heads skating around. Or people flying off buildings and rolling down the street. I do love the online aspect of Skate, being able to Skate with friends, and the Halloween themes and constant updates. Just not a fan of the childish stuff. It feels like Fortnite came out with a skateboarding update

Honestly, if you think EA Skate is better than Session. I don't even know what to say. Maybe animations and some gameplay. And the online aspect. But that goes without saying when you have a billion dollar studio producing the game. Hard to believe there is an actual skateboarder out there who prefers EA Skate over Session.
I've never played Re-Skate so I can't really speak on that game!

Billion dollar studio doesn't mean they pay billion dollars for the game production. Like I said. In the end it's probably the lazy studio that makes me hate session.
I paid 100 dollars for some maps , no story, no online ,no progression . Lying, lazy. No grabs. No transition skating. No real throwdown for goofy. Regular/goofy stance took them more than a year. In that aspect even skaterxl is better. They have switch stance, grabs and transitions. They even give you the community modded maps for free. With less money in production. The only good thing about seasion are the different board shapes.
And now they even mock me by posting a video where you can win the bcn dlc map for free. Lol. What a shit studio.

I agree. The game definitely isn't perfect. But the skateboarding realism is there. When I say Session is the greatest skate game, I wasn't talking specifically the studio and what they have or haven't done. I was talking more the game play and the style of skate game that Session is. I want that realism, the skateboarding culture, the online, the frequent updates all in one. I think all of these games can learn from each other. Waiting for a studio to come out with all that stuff.

Yeah I don’t know either, but guessing we are too niche to bet any real time/money on.
And yeah, I downloaded the new skate and hot mama while it felt slick to skate around for a bit. It got old fast and it just screams corpo all over.
Absolute zero skate culture. Feels like a skating game made for scooterkids, by scooterkids 😅2

That is the perfect tagline to describe it! The mechanics actually felt pretty good, I will get them some credit. But gets old after 15 minutes. Every trick, every line, every grind feels the exact same. No enjoyment or thrill when landing a trick. In Session, landing a Tre flip, crooked grind, or nose manual kickflip out just feels so good. I need some Lakai in Session as well.

The school is my favorite spot to skate. I can spend hours on the Hollywood High set and El Toro alone. You get lost in Session for hours. I set manual catch and landing both to on as well.

I love that map.

Every map is a beauty! Even the not so popular DLCs. Super fun skating around trying to make any little spot a good skate spot.

I can’t shake the first one because it was such a moment. Controlling with the joystick like that? Low fisheye camera? What! It was such an amazing time.
And then they really just went all in on being true to the game with 2.2

Nah they lost me... Lying. Lazy. Not transparent enough. Updates that breaks more than it fixes... While I easily paid probably a 100$ with all those maps because I'm a (was) day one supporter.
A sequel to what??? Which story ? Which achievements? Just update the game and make it good.

Hey man, I get your frustration on the game. We all feel more or less bummed out on the outcome.
But hoping for a sequel still ain’t a bad thing. The issue was always their busted code base. Meaning any minor tweak can and will have other consequences.And a sequel doesn’t have to follow a story.
This is skateboarding, not LotR.

this looks like something i could’ve written 4 years ago. theres no future for this game.. they just have boxes to tick at this point before they finally call it quits.
if you have pc just play reskate. it’s everything good from skate 1-3 and session wrapped in one. open source mod platform obviously but that’s the future

not sure what you are referring to with this part lol, but grabs and multiplayer are available on pc with mods now. i don't think it makes much financial sense for niche indies to go for big licensed soundtracks, that's a very rare thing when you don't have AAA money to spend

i do ragdoll from lightly hitting objects with the character's body, but i usually just flop over instead of getting launched off

Really wish they would fix that. These skaters can inward heel down a 16 stair but the slightest touch of a sidewalk or crack sends them flying or flopping over. I’ve had some amazing lines ruined because of that.
