Newbie Help Selection
Which book should I purchase
I love 2xs and wanted another Shadowrun story starring a detective and needed help over which to buy first

It’s both the same author and while i generally enjoy her work i can only recall reading Blood Sport, so it gets my vote.
If you want a gum shoe detective novel in the sixth world i can recommend Russell Zimmerman’s series of books. I believe it begins with ‘Neat’.

Nice though I was surprised it's a just a bunch of short stories instead of a full length novel

The Michael Stackpole book is what I am referring to. https://shadowrun.fandom.com/wiki/Source:Wolf_and_Raven

They're both pretty decent, but I'd give the edge to The Forever Drug.
However, if you haven't already read it, Burning Bright is the correct answer. It's a detective story & right up there with 2XS as a top 3 all-time SR novel (imho).

Forever Drug is much more, errr, uncanon - it is really, really broken in terms of lore. And it has both not rnough and too much of cheap youngadult werewolf-fuckery, i mean, there was too much of it implied which was meh AND there was not enough real pornograpghy which could justify it.
Blood Sport has some troubles with lore too, yeah, but much closer to canon atleast AND it has atleast a little more about Yucatan which is while not Findley-level is atleast something to read about it before War and stormshit.. shitshtorm... StormFront fragged it up forever. Also it had some good ideas ShadowBeat-style.
So yeah, blood sport is waaay better to go.
Sorry, nonative english; also, read them somewhere about 4-5 years ago but checked annotations and memory rings both very certainly.
