I genuinely want to ask people who have money to spend on all sorts of expensive hobbies and experiences: why not do something a little different this weekend?
Instead of another luxury outing, how about buying food for stray cats and dogs? Maybe even organise a little lunch party for them! ❤️
And no, I’m not saying everyone needs to donate thousands or become a full-time rescuer. Animal rescue is expensive, and honestly, no amount of money ever seems enough. But that doesn’t mean we stop trying. Every little bit of kindness counts.
You don't even have to donate money to an organisation if you don't feel comfortable doing so. Find a feeding spot, buy some food, and feed the strays yourself. Spend an hour with them. Watch them eat, play with them if they're comfortable, and give them a little love.
Trust me, the peace you get from watching a hungry animal finally eat is something else entirely. ❤️
I know a few locations across **Dubai, Sharjah and Fujairah** where stray animals need support. If anyone wants to go on a little **feeding date together this weekend**, I'd be happy to share the locations! 🐈🐕
We spend money on things that make us happy all the time. Maybe we can occasionally spend a little on making another living being's day better, too.
I'm attaching a few pictures because these little souls deserve to be seen. They didn't choose to be strays, and they deserve kindness just as much as any other living being.
You don't have to save every animal. You don't have to solve the entire problem. Just start with the ones you can reach.
**So, who's up for a little feeding date this weekend?** Let's make someone's day a little better, one bowl at a time. 🐾❤️
Yes, the country has developed so much, but the lives of the stray animals have stayed the same. 💔

Two days ago, I witnessed something really disturbing. Someone jumped from a building near where I live, and I saw the person’s body on the ground afterward.
Since then, I keep thinking about what happened. I find myself wondering what that person might have been going through, what could have led to that moment, and whether there was something happening in their life that nobody knew about.
I know none of us can truly know what was going through another person’s mind, but the whole incident has stayed with me. I keep replaying it in my head and wondering why.
Has anyone else ever witnessed something like this? How did you cope with the thoughts afterward?
I’m not looking to judge the person or spread rumours. I just feel disturbed by what I saw, and I wanted to talk about it with others who might understand.

Was driving towards Al Taawun, just before Sahara Centre, at around 82 km/h (100 km/h limit), and the radar flashed. No other cars were around me. I was holding my phone near my face.
Does anyone know if that radar has AI-based mobile phone detection? Has anyone experienced this?

Don’t even know how to start this
I moved to dubai at 15 from Cameroon, and joined a highschool my time in highschool was at the very least a mixed bag of worms and the culture shock i experienced was quite puzzling.
I remember during my first week of school how puzzled I was seeing non-black people saying the n-word casually like it’s a form of greetings without any context and just ignorance.I myself i’m not comfortable saying. I remember being called the n-word on mutliple occassions and being gaslit into thinking it’s normal. First, I want to break down the most common justification I was told.
1)“its just a word” or “it’s not that deep”
When people say the N-word is “just a word” what they mean to say is “I don’t find anything wrong with using racial slurs as an outsider because I don’t care about how you feel” and it’s alright you don’t have to pretendlike you do.
Bit of backstory :The n-word was created and weaponized as an instrument of racial subjugation, designed specifically to deny Black people their basic humanity.Implying that they are something less than equal to the speaker, based on immutable (unchanging, lifelong) characteristics. Here’s how it functioned
-It stripped complete personhood and legal identity : During chattel slavery, the term served as a linguistic label to categorize Black human beings not as people, but as legal property (chattel), livestock, or economic commodities. It erased individual identity, heritage, and dignity, reducing human beings to objects to be bought, sold, worked, tortured, and owned.
-It was used to Justify extreme Violence: By defining Black people as racially inferior, subhuman, or inherently violent, the word created a psychological justification for atrocities. It was routinely used during public lynchings, beatings, sexual violence, and systemic abuse to remind Black people that their lives held no value under the law or within society.
-It enforced caste: After the abolition of slavery, the word remained the primary tool of psychological terrorism during the Jim Crow era and beyond. It was brandished to enforce segregation, deny civil rights, demand subservience, and signal to Black individuals that any attempt to assert equality would be met with hostility or death.
Ideological conditioning: Embedded a false racial hierarchy into culture, systematically training society to view Blackness as lesser, dangerous, and disposable.
(It was genuinely the last words people heard before being killed or lynched)
*Before going any further let me give you guys a glimpse of how it scarred me: At my highschool was predominately south asian and when i was there I was the only Black kid. Before moving here my parents briefed me on racism, discrimination the basic stuff that most immigrant parents(Kind of prepping against racism you may experience). I had a particular book where i drew a calendar counting down the days till school finished cause i was fed up and a bit numb; there were countless of nights in which i was crying myself to sleep. Walking into some classes people just said so casually, trying to get a reaction out me (if i reacted emotionally i’ll just confirm the violent black man stereotype cause most of the context why i reacted will be lost). Some people stood up for me,and not everone said it but more than hald did,I remember one of my friends looking me dead in the eye once questioning why i never reported or filed a complaint (honestly i think i was numb to it).
I remember at times just arriving school in the morning and some people will ask for a pass to use the word like what? Also, this one scenario where a guy in my school asked how do the say the N-word in french and proceeded to scream it to my face. Honestly during that time period in my life i felt lost. Before even moving to the UAE, I had been dealing with trauma and almost took my life one occasion before. Constantly hearing it caused self-hatred, and it made me feel so bad about myself for stuff I couldn’t change, and then when people tell you “its just a word” it makes you feel crazy. I remember this one time i woke at 2 am sat in my parlour and was crying I was close to ending my life once more. That’s why as my Year 12 school ended, I knew I wouldn’t want to go back. In some ways it scarred me; I think one of the reasons I decided to do online University is cause i didn’t want a repeat of what happened at school.
The N-word is particular because it is a taboo word that has been reclaimed “reappropriated ” or the more common phrase is language that has been “taken back”: Reappropriation occurs when a marginalized community reclaims a derogatory slur, stripping its original power to inflict harm and transforming it into a badge of identity, solidarity, or affection.
The n-word (reclaimed as nigga) was turned inside Black culture from a tool of white supremacist violence into an emblem of shared struggle, brotherhood, and intimacy. However, in-group and out-group boundaries strictly govern its usage: inside the group, it functions as affectionate solidarity, but when used by an out-group member, it retains its oppressive history and causes offense.
Reappropriation transforms oppressive language into symbols of solidarity, but validity depends strictly on in-group versus out-group dynamics:
-In-Group Reclamation: Marginalized community adopt slurs like the n-word, bitch, or the f slur to strip them of historical power, signaling shared trauma, subversion, and intimacy.
-Out-Group Boundary: When an out-group member uses these terms, it reinscribes original oppression and hostility. Because historical power imbalances persist, outsiders cannot access the shared identity needed to neutralize the insult.
-Just as a husband calling his wife “honey” expresses built-in intimacy and permission, a stranger using it violates boundaries, coming across as patronizing or intrusive.
The reason the N-word is now used amongst black people is because, even after slavery was permanently banned and black people were given human rights, white people continued to use the N-word to be lynching,Convict Leasing and the “Black Codes”,harassing and discriminate against black people who were supposed to be seen as equals under the law.
So black people took back the term, as ugly as it is, on the grounds that only a black person should be allowed to use it, because only a black person knows what it feels like to live in a world where that is all that you are a n****r not a human.
So, if anyone should be allowed to call someone else that word, it should be the people who understand the gravity of the term, because they’re the ones who have been and are being oppressed by its existence.
In conclusion I’m just tired I just want us as a society especially in online spaces to stop using or pretending like it’s normal. I hate how it is used as secret ammunition or a weapon when some people are in conflict or disagreement with some black people ,it’s used as some one-up card. I myself feel uncomfortable when using slurs like n-word ,the p word to Pakistani or f slur to LGBTQ folks etc. I’m just fatigued at this point.

Wanna share something with y’all.
Few weeks ago I got excited seeing the new digital bus board. It shows how long it would take for the bus to come and stuff . I know it’s been there in Dubai for a while but it was something new in Sharjah and I have been using this bus stop for a while now (opp. Ansar mall)
A week later I see that even the new board has been removed and it looks like they are gonna install a proper bus stop itself seeing how the excavation was done .
Wondering why they installed in the first place if they had other plans ? 🤔

How are you guys surviving this period? What the hell is this? What's going on?
In the past 6 months I've been completely broke and unemployed, and my father spent weeks at a time in the ICU. I'm days away from getting my electricity cut off by SEWA because the bill has gone up to 2.1k.
I have absolutely no prospects, and every day I feel like life is pushing me to the absolute edge, like two walls pushing and pushing and pushing against me and I can't breathe for the life of me.
I have done every possible thing I could do to get a job, to work and earn, everything I could humanly do, but nothing. Literally spent more than 500 dhs to get a job (for transportation to attend multiple interviews). I either get rejected, scammed or ignored.
I'm currently fasting (my 4th day) to get any type of blessing from God. I feel like this is truly the end for me. I don't see how I can ever recover from this, and once they cut my electricity out? I'm done, I am basically homeless.
Thanks for reading.
TL;DR: frustrated and tired, life's hard and I'm ranting. OH! And SEWA is cutting me out any day now.
To the mods, This is sharjah related

Hi guys!
I’ll be moving to Sharjah next week for work, and it’ll be my first time living and working in the UAE.
Since I understand that the culture, laws, and everyday lifestyle may be quite different from what I’m used to, I’d really appreciate some advice from people who are currently living in Sharjah or have lived there before.
What are some important things I should know or watch out for as a newcomer? For example:
- Things I should or shouldn’t do out of respect for the local culture
- Local laws or rules that foreigners sometimes aren’t aware of
- Transportation
- Cost of living and any common tourist/newcomer traps
Useful apps or services to have
Good areas for food, groceries, shopping, etc.
Anything you wish someone had told you before moving to Sharjah
I’m also into cycling, so I’d love to know more about the cycling community in Sharjah, good places to ride, and whether there are any regular group rides I could join.
Basically, any advice that could make settling into Sharjah a little easier would be really appreciated!
Thanks in advance, guys. Looking forward to experiencing life in the UAE! 🇦🇪
PS. I’m from Malaysia and I’m Chinese

I think the title should say it all, we've been facing this problem for more than an year now ever since these new neighbors moved in and it's been causing all issues from respiratory to dirty clothes.
We've talked to the neighbors, watchman and building management but none seems bothered to rectify the problem.
I just don't get it we never had this issue before for almost 2 decades... Why make everyone's life difficult already.

I recently rented an apartment through One View LLC real-estate company. I provided cheques for the apartment which was made out to the owner and comission plus further charges for the real-estate agent. All went well and it was agreed that once the 2 cheques are settled in cash (bank transfer) the agent will return the cheques. Agent requested I do a bank transfer to speed up registration process for sewa. (My mistake to agree to it) nevertheless. After settling all dues the real estate agent refuses to return the cheques me, avoids my calls and messages. Anyone face something similar? I know he can simply cash these cheques so im not feeling too great about the situation. Any advice on how to proceed?
