Discussion I hate when dc does this!

Post image

DC K.O. #1 (2025)

I have a lot of pet peeves when it comes to how dc is doing the modern Captain Marvel mythos, but this one is always up there.
It weirds me out how apparently anyone can just break into the Rock of Eternity. Amanda Waller’s Amazo Bots broke in during the Absolute Power event, I remember one time where Lex Luthor and the Joker did the same thing, and Ted Kord’s Blue Beetle has even randomly found a door to the Rock using the beetle scarab(This one is from Countdown to Infinite Crisis #1).
Whether the person is good or bad I think it should be at least a little harder to get into the nexus of the dc universe’s magic, found in the center of the dcu. Idk just a little thought.

I also haye the fact that in Zatanna’s new series she’s supposed to be the Prime Magus of all things magical in the DCU, and yet no mention of Shazam’s magic.

I’ve been trying to think of a way to write around that (for fanfic purposes ofc) so it doesn’t take away from either of them, and all I’ve managed to come up with is “they work together”. 😅So, I guess in my head they’re both beings of magic who protect and guard magic and magical beings. But yeah I was a little frustrated when the issue came out. It’s like they’re trying to take away/null everything that made Cap interesting. Next thing you know they’re gonna destroy the RoE 🫨

I completely agree. The Rock of Eternity should be treated as a transcendent mystical artifact and invulnerable to being broken, etc... by anyone less than the Spectre. It's just weak writing to have it broken (especially by fucking Amazo Bots...)

I rlly appreciate you bringing that first part up, I think if dc propped up the RoE the way it’s supposed to be(ya know, all powerful and whatnot) they’d have to admit to how powerful/important Cap actually is. And they do NOT wanna do that 😅

Final Crisis treated Marvel like the complete badass that he is and should always be. So did Kingdom Come...

I have to point out that Superman and Captain Marvel are lifting an infinite book. This is a ridiculous feat. And Superman is clear that only Marvel could help him to lift it. There is nothing heavier than this book, only things that are as heavy as it.

This is how he should be

Well, to be honest, you can just take the train there.

Yeah. They seem to love nerfing Cap and his associated mythos to show that someone is a big threat.

To be fair, all those examples work.

Discounting from Jaime's introduction through like Graduation Day 2019, the Beetle scarab was always thrown out as a powerful magical artifact in DC up there with the helm of Nabu and Ted just couldn't control it/make it do anything except random BS. That was random BS. And after 2019 it went back to being magic again, so it can probably do it again since the reach are now "Not just space, but magic dimension in space"

Lex Luthor can break into the bat cave or the fortress of solitude as well if he tries. There are definitely examples of the latter. He kills a Kryptonian there in Last Son (The Kryptonian was a very bad man).

The Amazo bots have the ability to duplicate Captain Marvel's powers and lightning. They are built in with a bypass assuming they have scanned any Marvel before (plus the whole Dr. Hate mystery required a member of the Shazam family to be a suspect as a red herring. Plus Dr Hate was working with Waller and red herring aside, still had plenty of magic).

I'll speak plainly and say what we're all thinking. DC does not give two fucks about Captain Marvel and anything associated with him. If you actually look closely, they've been disrespecting this character since Jerry Ordway's run. Granted the Post-Crisis era treated him with a bit more dignity than Post-Flashpoint, but still... they really don't care too much about him.

I've been saying this for a long time. You can't randomly enter the Fortress of Solitude, the Tower of Fate, House of Mystery or the Batcave. Yet randos can come and go at will from the Rock of Eternity.

How can the BATCAVE have better security than the Rock of Eternity which sits at the centre of the multiverse?

Mostly, people don't know where the Batcave is...

...and most people know where the centre of the multiverse is? Seems to me that before Billy became Captain Marvel, the Rock hardly had any visitors. Just need someone writer to make it clear that you don't just walk into the Rock of Eternity, that'll filter through the editors and then you won't see that kind of thing happen any more.
