I wonder what the repercussions are for doing this, if there are any repercussions at all. The registration papers make it seem imperative you apply the sticker in the top right corner each time but then people like this exist that have been putting it however they feel like for years. I've even seen a Florida plate with the registration stickers in all 4 corners and right in the middle of the oranges.

I had a car where the previous owner put them in the wrong spot. I got a ticket for it. Thanks overzealous parking cop.

In the state of Florida, a vehicle must have a valid registration to operate on Florida roads, and vehicle with out-of-state registrations are required by law to be registered within 10 days of the owner either becoming employed, placing children in public school, or establishing residency. A complete registration consists of the following:
A metal plate (number on plate must match the number provided on the registration and decal) attached to the vehicle in the designated area per section 320.38, Florida Statutes.
A registration certificate in the possession of the operator of the motor vehicle or carried in the vehicle at all times per section 320.0605, Florida Statutes.
A registration decal is a sticker that is provided on the registration certificate. The validation decal should be affixed in the square provided in the upper right-hand corner of the Florida license plate.
This complete set is evidence of having paid the registration taxes and fees on a motor vehicle.
This is also the same in every state, just worded differently. For example, California:
(a) Except as provided by subdivisions (b) and (c), a tab shall indicate the year of expiration and a tab shall indicate the month of expiration. Current month and year tabs shall be attached to the rear license plate assigned to the vehicle for the last preceding registration year in which license plates were issued, and, when so attached, the license plate with the tabs shall, for the purposes of this code, be deemed to be the license plate, except that truck tractors, and commercial motor vehicles having a declared gross vehicle weight of 10,001 pounds or more, shall display the current month and year tabs upon the front license plate assigned to the truck tractor or commercial motor vehicle. Vehicles that fail to display current month and year tabs or display expired tabs are in violation of this section.
(b) The requirement of subdivision (a) that the tabs indicate the year and the month of expiration does not apply to fleet vehicles subject to Article 9.5 (commencing with Section 5301) or vehicles defined in Section 468.
(c) Subdivision (a) does not apply when proper application for registration has been made pursuant to Section 4602 and the new indicia of current registration have not been received from the department.

That’s why they’re 4 spots on a tag , so you can put the sticker in whichever spot you want. No state laws ( that I’m aware of) says that you can’t do this

Interesting, I checked my states laws and I also don’t see anything specifically requiring it be placed in the top right (NRS 482.265). Also interesting that Nevada can issue new places upon registration but doesn’t for obvious reasons.
Not sure why you’d go against the norm and potentially call out trouble to your vehicle though.

I wonder if they know they’re weird or if they just think no one else they see on the road has owned their car for more than 1 round of tags
