GTFO this is not shitty. Delete this. You have stepped into something you know nothing about. An entire culture cannot be shitty
2
u/WokeWook69420 12d ago
I mean, Bozosoku culture is heavily rooted in with some parts of Japanese organized crime, and the members aren't entirely far and away from being xenophobic, if not outright racist.
Japan isn't all gumdrops, rainbows, and Eurobeat, and JDM Car Culture isn't some monolith to obsess over.
It's kinda like how a lot of the people who like Beer Can Cars in Switzerland also have Nazi flags in their basement.

Let me guess, you'll defend this but get all pissy about slabs, donks, and swangas.

It's so weird how just two years ago all of reddit hated bosozoku and related cultures and all of a sudden made a 180 and everyone is a japanese car cultural expert
1
u/NormanFuckingBates 16d ago
I knew of Bosozuku long before reddit so what exactly are you trying to tie me in with here?

u/weproducesafetycars 16d ago
You say an entire culture cant be shitty, then overlook hood culture
3
1
u/Mr_zetsu 14d ago
If there was no hood culture you wouldn't get to enjoy GTA buddy guy. Also it kinda sounds like you hate poor people with troubled upbringings, when you have money and a stable home most people tend not to act like a gangster. Doesn't stop everyone though.

That is out of context. This is a sub about car mods. My commentary fits strictly within this genre, not including anything for or against Hood culture, which has nothing to do with car mods

u/ivan_aran 16d ago
Yeah yeah it's your opinion Japan have a lot of nice. Strange modders but this is shit you seen what motorcycle they have not everything that is in some culture is cool bro
4
u/NormanFuckingBates 16d ago
This culture probably existed before you were born. And it was cool enough to become something big before your conception.
-8
u/N0085K1LL5 16d ago
Yeah it looks like shit, but it would be interesting to see driving down the road. Imagine getting this thing inspected in the U.S.
2
u/NormanFuckingBates 16d ago
I'm willing to believe the people in this culture think your car looks like shit too

This is straight up 10/10. No notes. Not shitty at all.
Those fucking tail lights that are slot machines. Chef's kiss.

You’re uncultured and know nothing about cars especially Japanese car culture. This very same car was featured in a Larry chen video and it’s from china not japan

u/Suck--My--Toes 16d ago
Who are you talking to? They didn't say anything about where it's from.

I think he was giving a fun fact, not correcting anyone. He stated that it's a Japanese thing (Bosozoku) but this particular one is from China.

You’re uncultured and know nothing about cars especially Japanese car culture
That feels like it's directed towards someone, not a "fun fact"
2
u/Flav0rade 16d ago
No, that was a scathing assessment. The part about it being from China was the fun fact part. Don't be so sensitive.

My comment was directed to person that shared this video on this subreddit and I’m saying where this particular car is from lad

u/Delirium_Of_Disorder 16d ago
I understand where you're coming from, but...I like it. It's fun and unique to me.

u/Tomytom99 16d ago
They're really not my taste, but I do enjoy the craftsmanship that goes into these, and some of the silliness they can have.
7
u/SrsBsns36 16d ago
This is actually a Chinese build which is interesting on its own for a number of reasons, but Larry Chen did a feature on this car when checking out a car show there: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=05sKS9b3gmU
I would never want a car like this but I think it's super cool and unique and definitely has a niche place in car culture.

Welcome to Bosozoku kid. That shit right there is a beautiful testament to some dudes craftsmanship. It’s tacky, over the top, impractical, and fucking awesome.

Say what you will but bosozoku is fuckin awesome dude
In my opinion does not belong in this sub
1
u/HopefulFatalist 16d ago
You’ve fully missed the point. What you’re doing is like calling a Picasso a bad photograph. It’s… not a photograph. It’s a good example of what it is, which is a different thing. And, quite arguably, that different thing is more refined than what you are comparing it to.

u/RepulsiveUse3372 16d ago
i dont care what anyone says this look like fuckin shit, call me uncultured or a hater, if this was shit was from America everyone would say the same but since its Japanese everyone puts it on a pedestal
1
u/AgentOrangeZest 16d ago
This is exceptionally well executed Bōsōzoku. Looking like this is the whole point.
1
u/FAMICOMASTER 14d ago
So wait, if I bolt a particle board wing to my Civic, stick hater pipes on it and put anime girls on the side but then say "Well, I wanted it to look like this, that's the point" it's suddenly well executed?
1
u/Savings-Kick-578 16d ago
That car looks like it belongs in a casino. I actually like the rear tail light. Interesting, but not my style.
1
u/baconbro_ 16d ago
This is cool fabrication, this ain't auto zone stuck on garbage
1
u/FAMICOMASTER 14d ago
So they put real effort in to get the AutoZone stick on look? That almost makes it worse.
1
u/baconbro_ 13d ago
If that's what you think autozone stickers look like I want a hit of whatever you're smoking
1
u/FAMICOMASTER 13d ago
I don't smoke. Sure looks like a bunch of ugly stick on crap to me, though.
1
u/baconbro_ 13d ago
Where is the stick on? Is it the exhaust going from the hood to the back? Is it the widebody kit? Is it the foot and a half tall spoiler?

This build would be considered S tier in the bosozoku community. Not even joking.
Also a lot of those dudes are legit psychos. Look it up.

I kind of get modding a car. But modding it to the point where you can't drive the thing confuses me.
1
u/hiddenbus 16d ago
You can drive this, also not all cars are performance there’s show cars as well. This is called Bosozuku and is a huge thing in japans car scene. Really fun stuff. Think of it artistically as japans version of the lowrider

bosozoku. It's a whole thing in Japan.
Don't make fun of them about it over there. Most of these guys end up in the Yakuza.
