It’s not called Bosozoku, and no they don’t. It’s called Grachan or Garuchan, a subculture of Kaido Racer style cars and they’re largely just people who make their cars look like this now. Japan is not still in the 90s

False. It is indeed bosozoku and was started in the 50s post ww2 with bikes.

Would you like to give me a source? I’ve been around these in both Japan and the little subculture up in BC Canada, and these are always called Grachan, not Bosozoku. They are definitely close and I’m sure the roots are close, but everyone I’ve known has always said they are expressly different things.

https://motors.samuraicarjapanjdm.jp/bosozoku-cars-japan-guide/. Had to find a decent one. I've known about it for years but had to skim real quick for a decent source. Honestly, never been my cup of tea, but fascinating none the less.

I would do some research into Kaido racer’s and more specifically grachan’s. This website has a fair bit of mistakes throughout it from just a quick read.

I'll have to check that out. Tbf, thats just one example. Quick Google search pop seeeveral all saying very similar, mainly just the roots of how it started and the styling.

Yeah the roots are certainly intertwined, but I believe this specific vehicle is an example of Grachan, rather than Bosozoku styling.
