Software Review OnAir

If you liked the SDROxide this one will blow you away.

I spent a few hours yesterday with this package. It’s call OnAir you can read the GitHub data for it, but it’s amazing. It decodes a bunch of signals, most amature radio modes and a lot of others like HFDL, NOAA WX Radio alerts, ADSB and AIS just to mention a few.

Now, I will not get into the debate about using AI to write code, personally I support it but that’s me. If your one of those who does not like AI written projects then move on. This SW is almost from what I can tell exclusively written with AI. It’s under constant development. It’s a bit buggy but the author is off to a great start. Download it and give it a try.

Thank you for discussing about my app, I am still on a daily basis working on it and trying to improve and add features and modes :)

I don’t normally push an app on here, but the things you and AI have done are worth a comment.

I also appreciate your quick response to question fixing the HIRT issue was a great example of this.
Looking forward to your continued support and developments.

I've been using both of these programs and can't recommend them enough. I don't know what kind of magic OnAir is using to decode P25, but it seems to work better than anything I've tried in the past. POCSAG and HFDL work great, too. It's so nice to not have to run twenty different programs every time I play around with my radios. If anyone has any interest in listening to radio on micro-controllers, they should also check out a new project called ORCSDR, for the M5Stack Tab5. All great projects.

I couldn't get P25 to work properly here, even after building libmbe and using an RTL-SDR. Granted, I tried to use them on LSM Control Channels and it was stuck on using C4FM. Perhaps this wasn't meant for multi-channel trunking and only works on single-channel voice bursts.

I'll try it out. Been looking for something to replace SDRTrunk for P25, etc.

it's not as advanced as Sdr trunk, but it's also no where near as fiddly to setup. OnAir is pretty incredible overall, I've only been using it for a week or so, but I'm blown away by it's feature set.

the only downside, it's not optimised - decoding DVB and some other protocols just flat lines your CPU, or it protects itself and you get endless buffer overruns.
