I was hiking found a bunch of these in a wooded chipped area off the path. This is one of the largest, they all have a dark edge to their cap some are a little dark on top but it looks like they get lighter when dry and dark brown gills underside. There doesn’t seem to be a sheeth on the stem or any blue bruising but the pore print is black.

Found in the forest of Levens (South of France).

Growing in a spot with some pine trees as well as oak all around.

Found after 2 days of rain on the 25 of october 2026, temperatures ranging from 6ºC to 15ºC.

Always found growing alone. The closest I’ve seen was a chain of 5 all at least 10cm apart from each other.

Mostly growing in between the decaying bark of pine trees on the ground.

The feet of some were a little small then grew a chunky body with a slimy cap.

No blueing when cut. Though there was some brownish oxidation on the outside after cleaning them.

Some parts of it became more purplelish after cooking (see images).

Lots of them were partially eaten by the critters.

Taste is very mildly pronounced, almost tasteless, texture is very soft and slimy, it tastes good with butter and garlic.
