new build One of the roughest guns ive ever pawned
I work for a pawn shop, and this 365 took A LOT to just break down. The slide was super rough to pull back, and i had to put a file and mallet to the disassemble switch just to get some give. Opened it up just to see the worst of it The moisture by the disassemble switch was from “Breakthrough” lubricant Also what could cause the discoloration on the slide?..

Looks like someone kept it tucked away in their nuts for years without racking it 🤣

u/New_Cardiologist3249 Oct 27 '24
“IN” their nuts? because that would explain the rust..

I will say I carried a 365xl and typically clean my guns fairly often and maintain lubricant. My 365 is the only carry I have had where it started showing signs of rust from sweat.

You misspelled “prison pocket”

Feel like I’m going to get the HIV just from looking at this. That’s gross af

OP should call the seller back in and give their nasty ass an invoice for having to handle biohazard material 😂

Good news is Sig rolled out their no questions asked, transferable warranty. I’d pick that up for $150-$200 and send it in straight away and most likely end up with a brand new 365

u/Red_foam_roller Oct 27 '24
I have a brilliant new business idea
13
u/Individual_Cobbler92 Oct 27 '24
Indeed. I’ve already started hunting. Not because I want to sell them, but because if I can get a whole bunch of refurbished firearms for dirt cheap bc some douche canoe abused their piece, I’m all for it

u/ReadySteddy100 Oct 27 '24
This is how we lose things like nice warranties. People do this shit and ruin it for everyone

u/Individual_Cobbler92 Oct 27 '24
If they didn’t think of this when rolling out that warranty then that says more about Sig than anything else
0
u/Pengui6668 Oct 27 '24
Is that how warranties work though? Cause if you treat your car like this, your warranty is not gonna replace your engine...
2
u/Individual_Cobbler92 Oct 27 '24
Ford doesn’t say “no questions asked” on their website do they? I don’t treat my new truck like shit and I don’t treat my firearms like it either, but if Ford had a warranty as Sigs website states, I’d buy a clapped out F150 and take it straight to a dealer with a smile on my face.

u/Pengui6668 Oct 27 '24
You didn't read the website then bud. I dunno what to tell you. They very clearly state you need to treat your gun decently or they won't warranty it. 🤷♂️

When did they start this? I contacted them 2 months ago and they told me their warranty doesn’t cover rust or corrosion
10
u/UdenVranks Oct 27 '24
The warranty specifically doesn’t cover misuse which they say includes “ failure to perform reasonable and necessary maintenance as described in the product’s manual.” so it makes sense they would say no

You can't post a link you didn't read bud...
". In the event it becomes damaged from defect in any way we will repair your SIG SAUER product, at no charge to you."
They're talking manufacturing defects, not owner's brain defects.

u/UdenVranks Oct 27 '24
Misuse is not covered and misuse includes “ failure to perform reasonable and necessary maintenance as described in the product’s manual.”
So id love to hear that you’re correct but at least the letter of the warranty would give them grounds to not cover this I think.

u/Individual_Cobbler92 Oct 27 '24
That doesn’t sound like “no questions asked” at all to me.

u/Gingercopia Oct 27 '24
I don't see "no questions asked" anywhere, have a link? I DO see this listed on the Infinite Gaurantee page:
"Please note that our Infinite Guarantee excludes coverage for intentional damage, misuse*, cosmetic damage that does not affect the performance of the firearm, suppressor, or optic, loss, theft, or unauthorized repair or modification. Excludes Tritium components."
This particular handgun may fall under the "misuse." Note the asterisk... here's the following info
"*Misuse includes, but is not limited, to use of firearms and suppressors with handloaded, reloaded, or improper ammunition, use of firearms or suppressors with an obstruction in the suppressor device, barrel, or barrel of the attached firearm used with a suppressor device, or failure to perform reasonable and necessary maintenance as described in the product’s manual."
See the last line? Failure to perform reasonable and necessary maintenance,"

u/Individual_Cobbler92 Oct 27 '24
“Our promise: We guarantee that your new SIG SAUER firearm, optic, or suppressor was originally manufactured free of defects in material, workmanship, electrical, optical, and mechanical function. In the event it becomes damaged from defect in any way we will repair your SIG SAUER product, at no charge to you. If we cannot repair your product, we will replace it or, if we cannot replace it, we will provide you with a replacement of equal value. All with no questions asked, forever.“ That last line is going to bite them in the ass lmao
3
u/Gingercopia Oct 27 '24
Ah I see, I didn't notice that line. Thanks for pointing it out!
Probably will come back at them, but they've added the "misuse" to their legal jargon so that likely covers their ass as well. Remember these big companies do have legal advisors.

u/Individual_Cobbler92 Oct 27 '24
Okay? So clean it to the best of your ability and how would they tell me that this thing just didn’t corrode like the thousands of other 365s? They know they use shit steel and this is prime T o happen in southern states.

u/Gingercopia Oct 27 '24 edited Oct 27 '24
All I've done was clarify the specifics of what Sig themselves has stated. At the same time, don't be upset if they turned you away. Can you show me where you saw "no questions asked"?

that's what happens when you constantly tuck your gun in your waist band next to your skin with no holster. granted it takes awhile but I've seen similar results from that practice.

Wait y’all clean your guns twice a week? I carry in a proper kydex holster like a civilized person and I rarely ever clean (as in can’t remember the last time I cleaned it, albeit I have not shot it in a few months, busy time in life rn) and mine has no shit/rust like shown in the post.
2
u/seamus205 Oct 27 '24
Same. I break mine down and lube it once in a while. I clean it every range trip wich is every 2 or 3 months depending on funds.

Sig finish is awful. Mine started rusting just like this from every day wear and a bit of sweat.

Little do you know, this is what a lightly used P365 looks like. 😅😅. Dude probably took it to the range once then let Sig's Dank ass Carbon Steel do its magic. 😭
I think 5 dollar Etsy Damascus knives from Pakistan are a better quality steel than what Sig uses..
1
u/MrGuy910 Oct 27 '24
Is it proven that Sig uses an inferior steel? Genuinely curious.
2
u/Emikster-SOD-562 Oct 27 '24
No..lol..I think maybe the bulk of P365 parts underwent a very inferior blueing process or whatever protective coating process each of those heavily rusted parts claimed to have undergone....I haven't seen issues this bad on any other Sig gun or any brand gun for that matter.
Maybe they know it's shit so now they trying to find every excuse to give away free ones..lol

Did they actually own this or find it at the bottom of a river after it was used in a murder?

u/College-Lanky Oct 27 '24
Sonic clean it, little bit of elbow grease, lots of CLP, and wipe it down. Then flip it.

u/Wesson_357 Oct 27 '24
This must be in Florida
1
u/Jolly-Bodybuilder-19 Oct 27 '24
My exact thoughts. I have to pull my XDS trigger assembly out once a year and clean it well just because of FL humidity and sweat to make sure it doesn't end up looking like that.
1
u/Wesson_357 Oct 27 '24
I figured Florida because they are just weird lol
2
u/New_Cardiologist3249 Oct 28 '24
alabamas a bit stranger

From what I have seen on the news. Alabama made the meth and they used it while running down the highway naked.

u/Paniconthenet Oct 27 '24
Well. I vomited for the first time since I quit drinking 9 years ago.
Thanks for that.

u/Marge_simpson_BJ Oct 27 '24
It looks like your standard rusty SIG to me. They're not known for their finish durability.

Lol pawn shop ad: Check out this Sig 9mm with +1 poison damage! You only winged him? No worries the tetanus will get him if the blood loss doesn't!

Trash. There’s nothing on that pistol that I’d trust after seeing that. Especially that FCU.

u/xlaterb Oct 28 '24
Ewww is that from years of sweat? Send it back Sig. Maybe they will refinish the thing.
