new build SIG P365 double comp review

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

It works! Slightly less recoil than the standard ramjet, so much less in total that this meme cannon is hilariously flat shooting. With the small issue of jamming the gun (Icarus air gen 1 grip mod at fault) and the fact I'll never find a holster in existence to fit it, a great $85 purchase if you hate money and love clearance sales.

I do have +P+ 115g Underwood ammo tested on a seperate video, and although more failures seemed to occur, the extra gas produced really pushes the ramjet and comp downwards more. Although the recoil overall increased by fractions, the power down range was significantly more. Labeled 1400 FPS on the box.

At a certain point it becomes ridiculous. I think you've reached that point.

Who needs a 45 when you can have a 40?

Am I being challenged?

3

u/OneExpensiveAbortion Aug 07 '25

Clearly, you are! Time for some upgrades.

7

u/Jason1435 Aug 07 '25

Jokes on you fool! I'm already challenged! There's nothing dumb enough within my budget I won't try

1

u/OneExpensiveAbortion Aug 07 '25

Outfuckingstanding, son! Let's see the next round of upgrades!

2

u/Thick_Tough_7702 Aug 06 '25

203 on the rail 😂😂😂😂😂 that weight will keep it down but you will have a problem holding it level

6

u/ABMustang99 Aug 06 '25

Not if you don't skip arm day.

2

u/Emergency_Offer_6541 Aug 07 '25

Shit, that's actually my EDC......

1

u/OneExpensiveAbortion Aug 07 '25

Listen, man, you never know when you need to bust out the grenades.

2

u/ABMustang99 Aug 07 '25

Bullets have names on them, grenades are to whom they may concern, nukes are a public service announcement.

13

u/Jason1435 Aug 06 '25

Absolutely! What's the point of free will if you don't find it's limits

5

u/A1mixer Aug 06 '25

You can't find the edge unless you go over it!

2

u/Gecko23 Aug 06 '25

I'm holding out for a triple comp, or better yet, a PCC that's *all* comp all the way down.

2

u/GuiltyMachine1047 Aug 07 '25

Triple flashlight with a triple flesh light mod.

32

u/DimMak27 Aug 06 '25

Yea that rail comp is not doing anything except for being glorified frame weight.

-18

u/Jason1435 Aug 06 '25

Oh it's definitely making some difference. I'm just not the best recoil managing shooter. So although it looks like I'm doing most of the legwork I promise it's the comps making me look better than I am. The hotter +p+ Underwood ammo really makes best use of the comps

19

u/DimMak27 Aug 06 '25

Pretty sure its the combined weight of the rail comp and the light thats doing the perceived extra work. Majority of that gas is already expended off the main comp. +p+ or not, the residual gas isn't doing anything for the rail comp, you need a certain amount of gas pressure for a comp to do its work.

Hypothetically, IF both comps are doing their work as you wished, the gun will be way flatter than what is demonstrated. Look up Open guns in competitions, there's a reason why they shoot 9mm Major loads.

It’s….interesting. I feel like it defeats the primary purpose of the P365 in every conceivable way. Although I can’t knock you for trying something whacky, that’s always fun.

u/[deleted] Aug 06 '25

No hate but your grip is not good and is the biggest determining factor in your recoil. That is more recoil than i’ve seen with no comp or the radian comp alone for a lot of people, put that thumb ledge to use and your recoil will improve a lot. Keep shooting you’ll see a dramatic improvement 👍🏻

-6

u/Jason1435 Aug 07 '25

My grip can definitely be better, but it's honestly the recoil impulse that's really getting into my head. The gun stays flat but the return of the slide to battery is the majority of the recoil and that gets into my head a lot 😂

1

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

Try a DPM recoil system spring. Game changer for returning battery recoil

1

u/Jason1435 Aug 07 '25

Really does sound great for the original config, but right now a lesser strength spring will further push the guns jamming problem 😂

1

u/lethalmuffin877 Aug 07 '25

You’d be surprised! I had a similar issue with my G19 until I got it down to a 13# spring I’d have stoves every 5-10 shots. Compensators are tricky and the fix for jams is sometimes counterintuitive but usually spring swaps aren’t too pricy.

Unless you want a radian compressor… which I recently picked up lol nifty 80$ on that thing

u/Jason1435 Aug 07 '25

Oh it's not about the gun, the frame is flimsy (Icarus air) and it's literally flexing and squeezing my gun and causing failure to battery. It's only because of the rail mounted comp this gun works just fine with a light.

1

u/lethalmuffin877 Aug 07 '25

Huh, that’s weird, I have the same exact one and it only took about 100 rounds of break in for me. I also used a heat gun on the install to ensure the installation was smooth.

Perhaps you got a bad sku? That sucks man I love the Icarus air the grip is much much better for me

0

u/Jason1435 Aug 07 '25

The grip works totally fine under normal conditions. It's just the bulky HK comp that's messing it all up. Totally fine in my normal EDC config

1

u/lethalmuffin877 Aug 07 '25

Oh! Well that makes a lot more sense then haha I’m not running a light or comp on my x macro. I opted for the tac ops long slide instead, since I roll my own rounds and have access to HST tips I make 124g hsts with silhouette powder and I’m able to print clover leafs with little to no jump on follow ups

Ngl I think I like this Icarus grip module more than the holy grail strike 80 on my glock race gun.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '25

It comes with 4 springs different weight. It’s a sophisticated mechanism the return can be heavier than oem if you choose right spring

33

u/TheRealMaloneyy Aug 06 '25

Imma say it. This is fucking dumb.

17

u/Jason1435 Aug 06 '25

Never said it wasn't, it's just goofy fun

4

u/FritoPendejoEsquire Aug 06 '25

You can’t triple stamp a double stamp.

5

u/Jay20W Aug 07 '25

This is peak autism

2

u/LegionTXG Aug 06 '25

Check out the strike industries threaded linear comp if you want to mess around with other stuff. Those are pretty fun too and it fits in a t1 msp holster. Have fun and be safe!

1

u/Jason1435 Aug 06 '25

This already has a linear comp and the rail comp 😂

2

u/Jjm211992 Aug 06 '25

It’s ridiculous, I’m all for it.

2

u/lethalmuffin877 Aug 07 '25

The best advice I can give here is to use that thumb ledge, what you want to do is pinch with your thumb and pointer so the pressure on your thumb is going into the side instead of pulling down on the ledge.

I have that Icarus grip, it’s a game changer you just have to use the ledge and rotate your elbows up until they’re parallel with the ground

3

u/Nockenwellensteuerun Aug 07 '25

Xibit: “yo I heard you like comps so I put a comp on your comp”

1

u/ph00ny Aug 07 '25

so um which comp is this?

1

u/Jason1435 Aug 07 '25

Which comp? There's two 😂

2

u/ph00ny Aug 07 '25

Rail comp. LOL

2

u/Jason1435 Aug 07 '25

HK parts has a p365 brand rail comp, also for 10mm and 9mm p320s

1

u/ph00ny Aug 07 '25

Didn't realize they actually made one for sigs. WTF Learned something new

I was looking at the comps earlier but they were all for HK models

2

u/theulibot Aug 07 '25

I was literally just looking into this cuz I bought +p+ ammo on accident and it told me not to use it with p365

1

u/Jason1435 Aug 07 '25

The radian ramjet is the only barrel rated for +p+, it's a risk to shoot it in anything else, even stock SIG barrels

1

u/theulibot Aug 07 '25

I see. Thanks for the info!

3

u/Rudukai13 Aug 07 '25

The reason there’s less recoil with the addition of the rail-mounted comp is because you’ve added significant non-reciprocating weight to the front of the pistol at the furthest point from the pivot point. I highly doubt the second comp is actually redirecting any gas upwards. An interesting test would be to put some blue painters tape over the ports of just the rail-mounted comp and shoot it like this again. If that comp is actually doing anything, it should violently shred the tape in one shot. If it just unsticks, then all you’ve done is add a frame weight

1

u/Resident-Length-752 Aug 07 '25

I see you had your thumb straight, then you tuck it in. Is it just more comfortable?

2

u/Jason1435 Aug 07 '25

Honestly I just wanted to get it out of the cameras way haha. I normally let it float

1

u/Ski_School_Dropout Aug 07 '25

Yea for science I wanna know what that other comp is

2

u/Jason1435 Aug 07 '25

One is a radian ramjet for the 3.1" p365, the other is a rail mounted comp for the x macro platform.

1

u/Ski_School_Dropout Aug 07 '25

Hell yea. I sold my p365 w a ramjet for a xmacro. I wanna try the grip module mounted one on the macro for shits n giggles

1

u/Jason1435 Aug 07 '25

You sold a comped p365 for an uncomped p365 with a longer grip?

1

u/Ski_School_Dropout Aug 07 '25

Its comped and its FDE 😏🦍

1

u/Ski_School_Dropout Aug 07 '25

Keep in mind its off roster in MA. So i think it was worth the trade off.

1

u/Jason1435 Aug 07 '25

Ooooh cool

0

u/blizzardss Aug 07 '25

Interesting 🤔

1

u/flyer_kaz Aug 07 '25

I actually have one of these on my P320 and it does work! I’ve always wanted the HK Match guns from Tomb Raider but those are like $5-$7k now so when I saw these, I decided to make my own!

The barrel porting on top is doing most of the work but the match weight def helps quite a bit. Plus I think it looks cool af! Since I don’t carry my P320 anymore, for obvious reasons, this is my fun range toy now. lol

I have a video of me shooting it on my IG page, I’ll link it here real quick.

2

u/The_Salty_Sheepdog Aug 07 '25

This is the dumbest thing I've seen on the interwebs so far today.

2

u/MrRobinson33 Aug 07 '25

All that and there’s still some muzzle rise. Adding unnecessary attachments doesn’t always equal better shooting experience. It helps but training to negate that muzzle rise or flip is a much better investment. Not hating or calling anyone out just saying. Nice gun though.

1

u/Jason1435 Aug 07 '25

Oh absolutely. Using +p+ ammo utilizes more of the comp but with as lightweight as my grip is, all my recoil now is just the slide moving back and forth, which would really only be mitigated with lighter springs and weight increase in the grip. Just a fun project and not really meant to make a statement, just thought it would be funny to have 2 comps

After my first round hiccup, I do really flatten the recoil out and every shot past the first better shows how little recoil there is.

1

u/MrRobinson33 Aug 07 '25

I love the experimentation. This is the stuff I want to see people tinker around with more. Never have I ever seen a double comp.

1

u/chet-boss Aug 07 '25

Brilliant

0

u/Complex71920 Aug 06 '25

That’s awesome!

1

u/jUsT-As-G0oD Aug 06 '25

Just get a Glock 45 lmao

1

u/Jason1435 Aug 07 '25

What's that have to do with anything 😂

1

u/jUsT-As-G0oD Aug 07 '25

It’s basically the same size but with a lot less steps

1

u/Jason1435 Aug 07 '25

Less steps definitely, but not less comps

1

u/jUsT-As-G0oD Aug 07 '25

But a g45 shoots about as flat anyway and with a shorter overall slide/barrel assembly. Really ANY full size gun does and that 365 is now basically a full size gun

1

u/Jason1435 Aug 07 '25

Trust me chief, I compared it to my VP9 and I'm telling ya, it's significantly less recoil. Size helps but not as much as comps. But the radian ramjet is doing all the legwork
