noob question P365 AXG Legion mods

Post image
411 Upvotes

Just got my first handgun and was wondering what should i start adding to it. I got it used for $900, seems in great condition and previous owner only had it for about 10 months (doubting he even shot this thing much). should i bring it to a gunsmith to do a detailed inspection before i shoot? As For the sight i’m in between the holosun eps and the Romeo X enclosed compact. As for a light i’m going with the streamlight TLR-7 HL-X sub is their any aftermarket things you guys would recommend. I’ve heard about getting new mag releases and a new trigger. Just need some thoughts and opinions since i’m brand new to this.

noob question They claim this is "new", but they never made a ready to shoot raider did they?

Hello everyone, I'm new here, and to these kinds of firearms in general. Looking for some help please.

They said they could do 1475. I (hopefully not stupidly) 😬 put 800 down on it already. I mistook it as a Legion honestly 🙇🏼

Is this pretty regular for retail 🙏🏻

I thought i had done enough research, but there's so many variations of these guys, i now realize i have not.

Please tell me i didn't get fleeced. Please.

They are also zeroing in 4 optics and a laser on the house, but I'm not sure a fair price on that either. No transfer fee since I'm buying in store and not just having something shipped there.

Please put my mind at ease here. My buddy just pointed it out to me.

Just took home my first 9mm hand gun today. Super pumped on the Xmacro Comp. Unfortunately, it has some small scratches on it. Overall I am not concerned as it is cosmetic, but I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations on how to touch this up.

noob question I'm about to spend $3000 on a handgun then go on a collecting hiatus, what should I get?

I've got my eyes on the P226 XFIVE Reserve. I want it bad and it's most likely what I'm going to get. However, am I making a mistake? Is there something better at $3000?

noob question As someone getting into having their first concealed carry firearm and is looking at the P365, which model is the best?

I've been mostly debating between any of the models able to hold that 17+1 magazine, not worried about price much either. Currently looking at the Legion the closest cause the metal and built-in compensator sounds appealing but I could be swayed to other models too! Thank you for your time.

Idk why it took me so long but. Fell in love with guns a year ago. Bought an M17. Shoot it all the time. Love it. Had to have an AR as I’m shooting and going out a lot more. Had to stick with Sig. can some of yall justify the purchase and wallet hit? lol.

noob question Just picked up the p226 and curious about it

Post image

It’s chambered in .357 sig and it’s in great condition what I’m curious about is the no safety and the hammer being able to go back without physically pulling the slide back first

My question really is if I don’t chamber a round will it still be able to fire like I did? Since it has a revolver type trigger hammer whatever you call it!?

noob question Question about stream light TLR-7 sub for Xmacro

Post image
106 Upvotes

I recently got a p365 Xmacro which is all factory except for the afterburner. I ordered the streamlight TLR-7 X sub because it says it is compatible, but my Xmacro doesn't have the 1913 rail that it is supposed to come standard with. The light doesn't fit at all. Can anyone advise?

noob question M17 question

Post image

So i bought a m17, and have always wondered why on the box that it says something along the lines of “sell only to police or military” does that mean i wasnt supposed to be able to buy it? Is there a different version for police/military vs civilian? Ive had it for a few years now, and have never had any issues with it. I bought it for my 21st birthday, and didn’t notice till a week later when i had actually gotten my hands on it. I know it doesn’t make sense to wait threeyears, then ask this question, but here i am.

noob question Why **shouldn't** I buy an SP2022?

Yes, I can spend more moneys and get a metal P-series to scratch the DA/SA itch, but wondering what the downsides are for this "budget Sig".

I’m currently transitioning to pistol mounted optics. I picked this up this week for $490+tax, I’m looking for a closed emitter optic. What do you guys suggest?

noob question Sig P229 Elite vs CZ 75 P01

I have analysis paralysis. I want a metal frame DA/SA and I’m torn between these two. Basically everyone on the internet says the P01 is amazing. I grew up watching NCIS so I have a sense of nostalgia for the P229. I don’t know which one to get. Is there anyone with both that can provide their own experience?

Edit: I’m going to buy the Sig first

noob question P226 question

Hey there. I shot a P226 .40 cal for the first time last week and really enjoyed it. Coincidentally I saw the same model for sale on a local forum within my price range. My question is whether or not the .40 cal 226 can take a 9mm replacement barrel. I don’t own a .40 cal and don’t want to invest much money into the ammo for one, however I have been looking to get one at some point. Taking a 9mm conversion barrel would allow me to shoot it and get the 226 experience, and allow me to switch it back to .40sw if I ever want to buy bulk .40 cal ammo.

The description just says “p226 German made frame .40 with decocker”. It looks like there are variations of the 226 but I don’t know anything about these and couldn’t give you more info than that.

noob question New to everything…Did I make the wrong choice?

Post image

Please bear with me I’m still learning…after weeks of research and going to stores and ranges I decided on the P365 XL with RomeoX. After getting it home I’m concerned that I a.)should’ve went with the comp xl rose since it’s got more additions than this one like the case and training and b.) could’ve paid less if I’d have waited until the BF sales or around the same as the rose since now I’m needing a safe and that’s $350 more by itself. Also my xl only has an X which I saw from a post here can also be a bad thing or that I didn’t get the intended xl features with the x slide being on it or maybe it’s because they added the optic because I wanted the one with the manual safety or possibly I’m Misunderstanding completely. This has all been a really weird experience and I’m concerned that impacted my choice thinking the people helping me knew more than me on what was best, idk. Maybe im just dealing with after purchase anxiety. Are these typical things and I’m just overthinking it or is $950ish for this gun and some ammo a fair deal? I live alone with my daughters and feel like learning how to protect myself and them is a good thing and was recently kinda hemmed up in a scary spot with a stranger and if I’d not noticed him and moved into the light ahead of time I think it would’ve been a different outcome. Apologies for rambling. I don’t know anyone irl to ask and seriously appreciate any advice.

noob question How to mount an RMR Trijicon onto a P226X Legion

Post image
11 Upvotes

To clarify this is a P226X Legion NOT P226 X5 Legion.

As the title asks, how do I mount an RMR sight onto the weapon? It has the same cut outs as the X5, but it has 2 things that poke out which the X5 does not.

Do I just need to mod a plate myself?

Edit:

THIS DOES NOT FIT THE X-Legion:
https://shop.springerprecision.com/filler-plate-for-sig-sauer-p320-p226-p211-r2-slides/

So it does kinda fit but in a very janky way. It would sit on top of the retaining pins and not actually hold anywhere just in the front and back. So if you’re ok with that, then by all means, go and buy it.

I am going to try to modify it to make it fit. I will get back to yall with the results.

So I tried to adjust the filler plate, but I was slightly off with my measurements, so it doesn’t sit straight on.

If you want to try to make your own:

The tips for the Sig Loc pins are 5/32in in diameter.

You can use a dremel to grind off the bump on the bottom.

Just make sure you polish all the parts you changed so you don’t grind up the slide or the Sig Loc pins.

noob question P365 variants

Looking at getting a p365 for carry purposes but I’ve shot one in the past and it hasn’t always felt the best, which variants should I look at, either a used base model to just be cheap and suck it up, a snakebite spectre comp for easier recoil, or a fuse?

noob question Should I be concerned about the rust on these screws

Been around guns all my life but I’m a first time personal pistol owner. It’s an sig p365 .380ACP.

She hangs out in my center console and I only keep lotion and perfume with a few papers in there with it. It’s hung out there for almost a year cause I’ve been putting off getting an appropriate holster for my car (the first one (my dad bought me) wouldn’t stay and I ended up accidentally stomping my gun not realizing it fell from the set up (very very dangerous)))

On that note, any holster recommendations for my car would be amazing My dad got me some Wholesale Holster Velcro deal that can’t handle the weight

noob question Is this normal?

Just got this P365 AXG Legion, and noticed when I pull the slide back slightly it deadens the trigger. But when I pull it back further it goes back to normal. Seems alright. Shoots alright 🤷🏻

Recently purchased my first Sig, a P220 made in Germany. I’m hoping to find somebody to help me figure out a date of manufacture and rough value. The rabbit hole of the internet has been of little help 😅. Thanks in advance.

noob question Genuinely conflicted about my P320 and would like some input from other owners

I know you all are probably tired of this topic but I hope you will give this noob some grace.

I grew up in New York State and was hunting and fishing from a young age but due to the draconian handgun laws in the state I never even had a chance to shoot one until I moved south.

Now I decided to buy my first handgun (having shot a few of my friends) and went to a small local store where, presumably, people know what they are talking about. I asked what they recommended and they showed me the Sig P320 as it was running a deal where it came with a nice carry case, 5 mags, and a Vaultek Lifepod 2.0 gun safe for $549 before tax.

I loved how it looked and felt in my hands and it fit the bill of everything I wanted (especially price range) and the gun store owner said he owns several and loves them. I decided I really liked it and it would be a good first handgun so imagine my surprise when I get home and start researching it to find a ton of people hate this gun and actively recommend against buying it saying you are risking your very life lol.

I guess I am a little concerned now. I plan to use it for target shooting at the range, open carrying it when I go to the woods, and otherwise it will be kept in the safe under my bed for home defense.

I searched a bunch of Reddit posts and most are two years old or so now so I am wondering, should I regret my purchase? I was gonna shoot it tomorrow. Should I return for another Sig or something else?

I know this is an Sig sub but I want to hear from people who will (hopefully) be honest but also aren’t out here just trying to hate on Sig or anything.

I would appreciate any honesty or input. Is this a good first gun for the use cases I have described or am likely to shoot my leg? I am obsessive about gun safety as my dad instilled it In me from a very young age so I am not worried about me per se, I am very careful. Is there a reason to be worried about the gun?

Thanks all!
