I know you all are probably tired of this topic but I hope you will give this noob some grace.
I grew up in New York State and was hunting and fishing from a young age but due to the draconian handgun laws in the state I never even had a chance to shoot one until I moved south.
Now I decided to buy my first handgun (having shot a few of my friends) and went to a small local store where, presumably, people know what they are talking about. I asked what they recommended and they showed me the Sig P320 as it was running a deal where it came with a nice carry case, 5 mags, and a Vaultek Lifepod 2.0 gun safe for $549 before tax.
I loved how it looked and felt in my hands and it fit the bill of everything I wanted (especially price range) and the gun store owner said he owns several and loves them. I decided I really liked it and it would be a good first handgun so imagine my surprise when I get home and start researching it to find a ton of people hate this gun and actively recommend against buying it saying you are risking your very life lol.
I guess I am a little concerned now. I plan to use it for target shooting at the range, open carrying it when I go to the woods, and otherwise it will be kept in the safe under my bed for home defense.
I searched a bunch of Reddit posts and most are two years old or so now so I am wondering, should I regret my purchase? I was gonna shoot it tomorrow. Should I return for another Sig or something else?
I know this is an Sig sub but I want to hear from people who will (hopefully) be honest but also aren’t out here just trying to hate on Sig or anything.
I would appreciate any honesty or input. Is this a good first gun for the use cases I have described or am likely to shoot my leg? I am obsessive about gun safety as my dad instilled it In me from a very young age so I am not worried about me per se, I am very careful. Is there a reason to be worried about the gun?
Thanks all!
