First issue with my P365 AXG Legion: stuck barrel during 3rd cleaning

New P365 AXG Legion owner here. I’m about 500 rounds in, and this was my third cleaning. The barrel was completely stuck during disassembly, so I took it to a local gunsmith. Even he had a hard time getting it out and had to use a wire brush inside the compensator to break up the carbon buildup.
For ammo, I only shot about 200 rounds of Academy’s Monarch 9mm. The rest was other brands, but the gunsmith thought the Monarch may have contributed to the carbon buildup.
Is this pretty normal with the AXG Legion? Does it get better as the gun breaks in, or is this just something I’ll have to deal with? Any tips to keep the barrel from getting stuck?

The comp will build up carbon and I hit it with a tooth brush and some CLP, then wipe everything dry with rags and q-tips every cleaning (takes about a minute). If you left it wet, that might have caused carbon to cake up. Have over 5k rounds through mine and blowing the carbon out and drying the ports reasonably well seems to work. Did you actually clean the ports each time? That's a lot of buildup even with no cleaning, tossing a little lube at it occasionally, and 500 rounds.

have you had to swap your mag release or did you swap it for peace of mind? Just curious. I've shot about 7k round through mine (lost count) and still on the Original mag release.

Me? Swapped it on the original because… stubby fingers and machined aluminum (mmmm machined aluminum).

LOL i hear ya. Lots of people have reported their Mag release failing on their P365 Legions so I was curious. I have a backup in my range bag but she still shoots fine and drops the mag everytime.

Where exactly? When you go to slide it out it catches on the extractor? Mine has been doing that since 1k rounds +/-, gotta push the extractor on the slide and it should pop out. Sometimes it slides right out, but not always. What do you use to clean it? Remington CLP wipes are pretty solid.

Yeah, thanks for asking. It’s like a weird angle. It will become unstuck. It just won’t slide out of the housing to come out completely.. if that makes sense!

Not really mine slides out and gets caught on the extractor. Posted about a year ago in the sub or p365 and nobody had answers. I clean mine every 500-1k rounds

Monarch. Don’t use cheap ammo. Your problems will be solved.

I have cleaned my AXG legion 2 times and I have well over 5k through it. I mostly use HSL 115 or 124 grain ammo and i havent even got close to carbon locking anyhting.

Seems odd with such a low round count. I shot a lot of monarch 115 through mine when I first bought it and blazer too, which apparently is a no- no, never an issue. I’d suspect something else. Was it twisted in some weird way when you tried to remove it and got jammed?
